 OT tokay gecko

got one today at repticon, asked question in other forum but it sucks

anyone have any useful information about them I should know?
what I have researched is it needs a 20 gallon, which I just happened to have, a heat lamp which I happened to have. they eat 5-10 crickets a day? some eat fruit? need hiding places?
I gave him two paper towel rolls to hide in, and I have some fake leaves from my balls tank that isnt doing anyhting anyways, so he is good for hiding.

which bedding is best? what I mean by that is which bedding is cheapest but good that will help with humidity.

he hasnt hasnt shown me the true colors of a tokay gecko yet, hasnt bitten when I took him from little container and place him in the cage, but he had his mouth open during th ewhole process, and he ate crickets out of my hand, so i might have gotten lucky

basically does anyone here have any info on what I need? im upgrading his cage soon, so I can get him some more stuff to climb and hide on

tokays are great geckos i keeps seeing them everywhere but my wife says we have enough lol anyways as for the crickets just place a small hand full of them in around 10 or 15 this way you know he has plenty to eat.i not sure about the fruits and veggies but i know that cocnut husk will help the humidity and is cheap to buy i use to have my geckos on it but then i switched to another substrate you can also google a are sheet for them and see what you can come up with

Tokays, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, tend to be aggressive. I got lucky with my female as she didn’t seem as aggressive as the rest I’ve seen. I don’t have her anymore because I had to get rid of a BUNCH of my pets.

For mine she had a 20 gal put on it’s side with eco earth for bedding. I fed her in a separate 10 gal so she didn’t ingest the bedding. I gave her a handful of crickets and let her eat as many as she could in a 15 min time frame and then put her back in her cage. For fruits I occasionally gave her a slightly rotten apple(so it’s soft enough for her to eat).

ya, he acts like he is going to go down on me, but he bluffs, and thats only during the process of picking him up, I think what im going to do is buy that fake grass stuff, alot of people have that, humidity isnt a problem for me, so it doesnt really matter, now im using paper towels, and will upgrade the cage on wednesday, maybe get a pinkie and see if he eats it.
