BP body heat My snake often feels cool when I get him out of his cage, especially if he is hanging out in his cool hide. They should not feel "cold". If he feels cold, check the temps in his cage to see if they are correct. If Anouk has been in his warm hide for a while he will often feel lukewarm to warm. They should not feel "hot". If he does, check the temps to make sure they are correct. Snakes use their environment to regulate their body temperature. Most of the time they will feel slightly cool to touch. If the enclosure temps are correct, then the snake will be able to go where he needs to to keep himself comfortable. Be sure to have at least two hides, one on the cool side and one on the warm side. Temps should be 80-85 on the cool side and 90-95 on the warm side.

BP body heat ph, I didn’t really mean to say hot or cold but rather cool and warm. Well my temps are often 89-90 on the warm side(red heat lamp) and about 80-82 on the cool side.

BP body heat your temps are good Dave. Just remember, a 82 degree snake is gonna feel cooler to us b/c our body temp is much higher. But as the poster said befoe, just make sre the temps are right and your good. :D

BP body heat If you are using a red heat lamp rather than an under tank heater, you might want to check the temp inside of the warm hide to make sure it is within range. With only a heat lamp it may be hard to get the inside of the hide warm enough. I used a red heat lamp only when Anouk was in a 10 gal tank, but found I needed a combination of a ceramic heat lamp and an under tank heater to keep my temps up when I moved him to a 40 gal breeder tank.
What is your snake’s name? How old and big is he? Can you post some pictures of him and his enclosure?
Pictures are always fun! ;)
