It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. when i went downstairs and checked on my BP, he had shed during the week at some point and I took him out and when I was looking him over I noticed that by his..butt there was a little bit of blood. When I bent the end of his tail back a little bit a small red area/thing appeared..I don’t think I "popped" him by doing this..and I know he’s a male because of his spurs. But I just want to make sure this isn’t anything bad, I have never noticed it before..I would have taken a picture but I don’t have my camera on me. Is this because of him shedding or is it breeding season or something or is it something else?
Thanks!

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. Um wow just because he has spurs doesn’t mean that it is a male. You need to take the snake to get sexed or pop it yourself. Females also have spurs so that is a very false way to tell the snakes gender.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. You will see a bit of blood by the vent some times after they shed. I would not worry about it.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. For newby, uhm wow you don’t have to be rude about it. I don’t really care whether it’s a male or a female because I’m not breeding him/her. But ANYWAYS, thankyou Rick, I just never saw the blood there before so I just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. How was I being rude? Can you hear the tone of my words that were written on this page? I don’t think so. It is retarded to assume that because a snake has anal spurs that it is a male. So why don’t you just listen to what people tell you instead of jumping to conclusions. You have no idea what my tone was when I was writing the post before.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. exactly, he doesn’t have any idea of what your tone was so he took it as you being snoody...You just sound like you know everything about snakes and no one taught you that information..people have to be taught things about snakes. You don’t just wake up with knowledge about snakes.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. Well after 14 years of owning snakes I do know quite a bit. So yeah he should just take it with a grain of salt and learn from what i said. Just because it sounded snoody or rude doesn’t mean that i was trying to be. People need to research snakes before owning them. I mean most care sheets will point out that just because there are spurs doesn’t make it a male. I mean if people would just read more than one or two care sheets and talk to a few people they wouldn’t claim to know for sure that a snake is a male because it has spurs. If I didn’t point out that fact then you are going to get new people that come on this site and see that and then think it is fact. So yeah I had to point out his mistake because if i didn’t people will be giving false information and that will only make them sound stupid later on if they ever have a conversation about that topic. I don’t care what people think of my posts because when there is false information that is clearly visible then that isn’t good for the people who look at this post and believe that info as fact.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. goodness gracious..first of all I am NOT a he..I have had my BP for THREE years and have read a lot of information on them before I got IT and. I did not say that I knew for a fact that it is 100% male (if it came off that way I APOLOGIZE), I know how you sex a snake but I won’t try it because I’m not a "professional" and have never done it before so I don’t want to harm him in the process. But nor will I try to and nor do I even care as I stated before. Yes, I apparently took your tone the wrong way but you didn’t have to word it with "uhm wow" or go on to make it sound like I am stupid and know absolutly nothing about snakes when the only thing I was wrong about was his sex. Stop making this into such a big deal.Ihave posted several messages on this forum asking questions for more experienced owners. My intentions were to never start a whole debate or stupid argument on here, I was only asking a simple question because I was concerned about my BP. So thankyou.

Actually, male Candoia (ground boas) have anal spurs while females lack them, as do other species... who’s the retard now?

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. We are talking about ball pythons here not boas. If you want to bring up boas you can go onto the boa forum. I have had boas and while it stands true to some of them pythons are different. So your point is not irrelevant.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. Also I never called the original poster retarded. I said that it’s retarded to assume. OK not you are retarded to assume. So calling me a retard makes no sense. I was pointing out that the act of assuming was retarded not the actual poster. So please read into the posts with a little more depth before you comment.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another.. OK still this is a ball python forum when you say a snake it is directed towards ball pythons. I understand that boas in some species dont have spurs but like i said i was refering to ball pythons.
