 Regurgitation

3 wks ago I rescued a pair of young ball pythons left in a wet cold tank in a warehouse. I am thrilled to have them, they are tame and about 16 inches long. My question is last night I fed them a mouse each, they took 20 or 30 minutes to eat, then this morning I found one had regurgitated his mouse. They ate the same size last week and seemed ok although it seems like a challenge for them to swallow them. Are they too big? Perhaps fuzzy’s would be better? How long should it take for them to eat? I also have a corn snake that eats lg pinky’s or small fuzzies.

Im a new snake keeper and any suggestions would be helpful. THANKs

 Regurgitation

i would wait till the next feeding and offer a smaller mouse try for two fuzzies or a hopper. keep a close eye on it as regurgitation could prove troublesome. also make sure all your parameters are correct. dont try feeding it immediately though. :) hope this helps. good luck!

 Regurgitation

You rescued a PAIR.. are you housing them Together?

Do you know which snake did the regurge?

If they are housed together... Seperate them!
If they are housed together, and you do Not know
which snake did the regurge...

Do Not feed Either for 10 - 14 days!

It is recommended that you wait 10 - 14 days till the next feeding...
so that the snake can recover from the regurgitation.

If a second regurge occurs... vet check is in order.

The acids in a snakes stomache are much more abrasive than ours...
Multiple regurgitation will cause a lot of harm to your snake....
litterally eating it, from the inside out.

Prey size should be slightly smaller than the widest part of the snake.

BP hatchlings can take fuzzies right off the bat...
Large fuzzies, or small adult mice should be an apropriate size...
although I can not tell you specifically, because I do not Know how big your BP is.

Regurges can be caused by a number of things...
Stress... Illness... improper housing... prey too big, etc.

If you could post pics of the snakes, with something in comparison
(soda can, cig pack, etc), and a pic of the enclosure(s), it might be
a bit more helpful in giving advice :o)
