What The Heck Is Going On With Gizmo? I have been working so hard to get everything just right in Gizmo’s cage. I got the temps and humidity right, I thought. The warm side is about 92-95 and the cool side is 78-80. He has 2 hides ( one on each side) and this morning I find him in the cool hide. I took him out and he was cold. Why is he preferring to stay cold? I guess I am going to have to put a heat mat on both sides. Any suggestions?

What The Heck Is Going On With Gizmo? try givin him a 90 warm side. He may not like it that hot. Each snake prefers there own temperature.
Also if hes of size he may be cycling him self for breeding. Or it could be a female doing the same getting ready for a male. This is the time of year ball pythons spend more time on cool side.
And they will ALWAYS feel cooler to the touch as our body temp is higher than they are.

What The Heck Is Going On With Gizmo? Thanks. He is of breeding age/size, so I figure that is why he hasn’t eaten since mid Oct. He wasn’t cool, he was very cold. My next trick is to move the UTH to the other side as he seems to prefer one side over the other without regard to temps. I have him under my robe next to my skin right now and he feels warmer and has settled in it appears. LOL. Just one more thing I have learned from you. Thanks for your patience.

What The Heck Is Going On With Gizmo? you said he chooses one hide over another, are the hides identical, if not they need to be. alot of times my baby, will stay in his cool hide in morning and move mid-day to his hot, then explore a bit at night
