 Can I reuse a UTh?

I have a few UTH’s stuck to the bottom of glass tank I want to peel them off and put on another tank.

I wish I would have taped them instead but to late.

I read on the instructions not to reuse if taken off. Is this true is it a fire hazard? Or Can I use it?

If you are careful not to bend the UTH, so as to damage any of the coils inside the uth,
you could probably re-use it/them.

I have done this, using a putty knife, to gently pry them off...

What I did was put a little oil (pam cooking spray) on the putty knife
so it did not get stuck to any part of the tank or UTH.

After you remove it, it is best to run it on a stat, and keep a close eye on it,
you don’t want it to short out.

yea thats what i heard. my first UTH, i placed wrong, and i just ripped it, still works a year later, so I assume there pretty strong.

To me... It seems like it would be fine. The problem is, I’m not an electrician and know very little about this kind of stuff. If it says it could be a fire hazard, it probobly is. The instructions most likely aren’t lying. I would tell you to spend that little bit of money and just purchase a new one. Better safe than sorry.

i had a situation where i had no choice . my rack wasnt finished and my house was getting fumigated. you can take uth’s off. thay are pritty rugged. i was in a hurry sso i simply grabbed a corner and peeled. the uth survived and my snakes made it threw 5 days in a make shift tub enviorment. so in end yes you can peel them off and re use them. just make sure thay are geting hot. plug it in for 15 min and feel for warmth. if its warm/hot stick it on the next cage.
