Some will not like it at all...just do it though, it will deal. And dont use the towel on the top..use plastic since the towel will just absorb moisture instead of keeping it in the cage.

you should get some cypress mulch or other humidity holding substrate as misting wont do enough by its own. Or you can take away your heat lamp...

Would he recommend it if it was bad for your snake? lol

Anyway, I myself try to avoid spraying my snake directly. I don’t think they like it too much. Especially if it’s cold water. I know I don’t like being randomly sprayed with cold water. :(
What I do when I spray my cage down is spray the substrate a bit, then spray the sides of the cage so there’s beads of water on the walls of the cage. The beads of water will stick around for a while and keep the humidity up. But yeah, you’re not gonna have any less problems with humidity unless you get rid of the heat lamp and just use UTH’s.

I have always used UTH and ceramic heat emmitters together. I do not have a problem with humidity. Could you put a larger water container in the enclosure?

A ceramic heat emitter screws into a reflector just like a regular bulb would, but there is no light....just heat, so you can use them through the night.

There is a spiral coil inside the ceramic body of the "bulb".

They are going to have the same effect on your humidity as a heat lamp would, or worse.....depending on the wattage you buy. That is why I asked about getting a bigger water bowl.

I usually use mine in conjunction with a thermostat.

Brands & prices vary. I have paid 30 plus dollars for mine, but they are supposed to last 12,000 hours.

I am not saying it is like a light bulb.....it is not.....it just screws into the same socket as one would.

If you are having problems with humidity now, a CHE is not going to help.

My point was is your water bowl big enough????

Because I use CHE’s (two of them to be exact) and an UTH and I do not have a problem with humidity.

"what do snakes like in there cages plants?? and stuff?"
Whatever you like.....the vines I have on my cage are actually on the outside of the enclosure, held in place by suction cups.

Since you already have two hides and a branch and a water dish.....sounds like you got it covered.

Just remember that anytning you put in their cage needs to be safe, and not something that is going to inflict an injury. You also are going to want to be able to clean it. That is why my decorations are on the outside. They still add beauty, and some privacy, but do not interfere with the snake.

A CHE is probably the worst thing you can do if you are having humidity trouble. Those things will dry out the air worse than anything. They are very warm but if you can move your bp to the warmest point in the room and use the heat pad and light like you are (get the night bulbs if you havnt already) then you should have no problems if you are using the plastic like i told you to.

I am not disagreeing with you, Eunectes....but why are CHE so bad? I remember you saying that once before, too....saying you thought I may be "cooking my snake" or something like that. I use thermostats, so my temps are perfect.

I do not have ANY humidity problems with mine.

i keep plastic over half my cage. a heat lamp on the other side. put a towel over the plastic for extra warmth my temps are at 88 on the warm side and 75 on the cold side about. but the thing is with the humidity it keeps going down. i mist the heck out of my cage when ever i see it down to like 30 on the warm side and 40 on the cold side. then it goes up to about 61 on warm side and 72 on cold side. but after a few minutes (about 5) i dont have the time to spray it every 5 minutes.

Carm...if i said you were "cooking your snake" you must have been using more than 1 CHE as a heat source. If your temps are above 95 then you need to adjust..if you are on a thermostat your fine but they dry out the air. If you can keep humidity with one thats fine..I have used them as had little trouble with humidity in my cage that has a waterfall and a fogger and tons of water. My other cages without this would dry out. My recomendation to anyone with humidity trouble would be stay away from the CHE. If you are having trouble still 4life666 then put a bowl of damp towels over one heat pad and make sure it is under the plastic so all the moisture does not escape. You may also want to get a better guage because those stick ons from a pet store are nowhere close to accurate and of poor quality.

Eun.....hehehehe (my name is CarmELITA)

I do use two CHE, of different wattages (see pic above) But it took alot of trial & error to get my cage how I wanted it. It was too cold without the second one....but as you can see, I have quite a "long" cage. I keep the water under the middle section, where it is glass top....so I think that helps with the humidity. Koa sheds perfectly every time.

yup. at night with that night lamp the humidity stays at 60 on the cld side and 47 on the hot. during the day when i turn the heat lamp on. the humidity tends to drop and i have to spray my cage. But is it ok if its 60 on the cold side at night and 47 on the warm or does it have to be 60 on both sides. and do i spray my tank with out water or cold water during the day to get humidity up?

Actually I use Hot water to mist my cages..if the bottle sprays a fine mist then it cools quite a bit before contact with the snake. I always test it on my skin first and it usually feels cool still or slightly warm. And Carmelita..I am not going to type out your entire name the whole time unless you ask me too. Eun is fine, I know who you mean. I actually get called that in chats often.

lol....If you must shorten it.....I guess I can tolerate "Lita". I went by that in High School.
It is just that "Carm" brings back bad memories from grade school. They really butchered my name then....I couldn’t stand it.
