Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/
i have like a 3 month old baby bp... i got him on dec.11 for Christmas and i noticed a some shed in the container that i bought him in..(<--just some background info...). My bp hasn’t shed since i got him and he has been on a steady diet of crawler rats. Yesterday when i picked him up i noticed that he felt a little bit dryer than usual, but his scales still looked as healthy as they usually look, so i misted his tank and changed his water immediately. Today when i picked him up he still felt dry, and his scales seemed to be falling/rubbing off all over my hands, not a lot of scales but id say a total of like 10-20 scales so i rubbed him with snake oil and misted his tank again. Does anyone have any advice..? Is he going to shed or something.? His eyes aren’t foggy, and his scales are not faded at all, but his belly looks like it might be a lil pinkish, im not sure it was always like that or not though...kK any help would be greatly appreciated...thx

it may be because he didn’t have a full shed and he didn’t have all the scales come off they make stuff that helps the shed called shed ease wipes

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ if the scales are falling off its body you NEED to get him to a vet very fast. your ball python should never lose a scale.

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ I’m not sure if this will help any but when Isabella sheds (mind you she does NOT shed well) it sometimes comes off a scale at a time so if i hold her my hands would be covered in dark and light scales....maybe he just didnt fully finish his previous shed. did you try soaking him? it kinda helped Isabella but she still sucks at shedding ^_^

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ There is a difference between scales coming off and skin coming off but you may not recognize which. Scales are never good to come off and the snake does need to see a vet. If it is skin, soak the snake for about 30 minutes a day in warm to the touch water. Go to WalMart and buy a 20 quart Rubber Maid type container with lid and put about 3 inches of warm water in it and leave your snake in that for 30 minutes. I put a submerged rough rock in mine so the snake will have something to rest on and to rub against.

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ "I put a submerged rough rock in mine so the snake will have something to rest on and to rub against."That is a really good idea SCSnakeman!! I usually hold my snake when I am soaking it, but when I do not have the time to stand there that long, I use the "container with a lid" method....next time I do, I will definately add a rock.

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ after reading the post I do not think the scales are actually coming off since he said they are not loising color. If your ball python is turning white in patches because of missing scales...you got something seriouse going on. However, I believe you are just dealing with the first shed you have seen. Keep humidity up and if you do soak the ball python make sure you dry him/her off because air drying can cause him/her to become more dry. read my responses to the humidty questions for ideas to keep good humidity in your enclosure.

Wtf, mate....scales falling off...=/ if you cant soak themtry keeping the humidity at the recomended level (50-60%) during non shed times and around 80% during shed. also put paper towels down in a rubbermaid and soak those with "warm" water (75-80ish)

Thats wierd... I just got a 3 or 4 month old for xmas too... and hes doing the same exact thing! But just yesterday I also noticed that his eyes are now cloudy and today hes begining his ’normal’ shed. I wouldn’t be able to say if hes just sheding off the rest of it or not ... but it is kinda wierd!
