DIY "Water basin/bowl"? I was just thinking that you could probably make a big water bowl by using styrofoam and cement. I’m into aquariums , and you can make your own 3D backgrounds with that, and its fish-safe. So I might take a stab at doing a cool water basin-type one for on the floor of the iguana and snake cages. Anyone ever tried this?

DIY "Water basin/bowl"? Keep in mind that you have to keep it clean and wash it out regularly. I use a Rubbermaid. The aesthetics are for your pleasure, not the animal’s. If you’re concerned about the snakes health, then the very best you can do for it is to place it in a Rubbermaid, with the proper heating and humidity controls. If display is more important, then what you propose sounds nice. What I may do is set it up so you can insert the plastic reservoir inside the earthen mount. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
