 Yay!!!

55 to 60 % when not in shed and around 80% while he is in shed. Most of the care sheet give this and it works well for me.

 Yay!!!

66%? lol, why such a precise number?

Anyway, yeah I keep my humidity in the exact same ranges that SCSnakeman mentioned. 55-60% during non-shed, and 80% during shed. So far I’ve had nothing but perfect sheds, so I must be doing something right.

my bp is doing ok, ambient humidity is around 25% or so, not really sure as it doens’t matter, and he has a hide filled with damp sphagnum, seems to work out really well for him.

25% is certainly a bit low for a tropical animal. I like the higher humidity myself (above 50%) but during shed I always like to keep it very high...usually over 85%. I honestly do not have a guage in each enclosure anymore or a thermometer. I keep a humidifier in the small snake room and mist often during sheds. For temp readings I use a temp gun and have a space heater with thermostat in the room. My heat pads are all on a rheostat so I keep easily keep all my temps where I like them.

25%is a bit low, however they do live in fairly dry climates in the wild, a savanahs, and hide underground in warm humid environs. Honestly I’m just allowing for whatever ambient humidity is in the area. With sphagnum filled hide, and a large waterbowl, I have had faily good luck with this individual.

Yea I am honestly going to say that i dont have a thermometor or humidity gauge either. I used to have one, but my dumb mom was cleaning one of my BP’s cage while I was at camp and she threw it out. But my human heating pads have always heated to a perfect 90. I’m jyust wondering, if my heating pad is like 100 degrees under the rubbermaid, is it going to melt it? This is my snakes new rubbermaid and it is pretty good temp and humidity wise.

no a rubbermade will not melt at 100 degrees, as it gets warmer than that in the summer here and I have not had any turning to goo on my porch yet. I would say you would cook the bp b4 the rubbermade would fail.

lol size of the air holes..18 holes 1/32 of an inch isn’t as good as 18 holes 1/4 of an inch, but yeah should work fine, they will keep in more humidity if placed in the bottom allow more warm air to escape if placed in the top, and create an air current if in the top on one side and bottem on the other, lol.

Eunectes, I mentioned to a friend of mine that you had your heating pads on rheostats and he asked me to ask you what type of rheostats you are using and how you have them wired.

Thanks

I don´t see any hide place in your cage and you should have at leat 2 one in the hot spot and the other in the coolers place, they are nocturnal animals and they hide all they long.
Usualy in the shops they say that more than 80% of the Balls die anorexic refuse food until dead, but in the shops they stress a lot without the hiding place and strong light all they long, so some of them never recover from the stress they have in the shop and eventualy die in the owners house.
I´m very lucky i got my one without going trough a shop, she was stressed from the trip from Benin to the importer in spain and straight to my hose were everithing was ste up ready ror her, But at the moment i´m very happy she eat last monday and tuesday a mice but she was of feed since november. I just love my baby

I think cupid can take a small rat. My pastel was born early july and is taking small rats with ease. I actually am feeding my african rock python small rats and he is much much thinner than cupid. I just feed less frequently.

Hiss, I have three hides. They all have fake leaves on top of them though. Every where there is fake leaves there is a hide underit.

Ok. I’ll try a frozen small rat tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll feed them today....ahh...decisions....(cus I fed them last saturday..)
