 Still no good

Well its week 3. Nub is still refusing food. Lost more weight. We tried a f/t rat, left it in the tank over night...no good. Mice live and f/t no good either. We are watching him starve slowly and its killing us. Theres no reason he shouldnt eat. Checked his mouth, listen for RI and even took a peek at his vent to be sure it wasnt shed covered.

Im out of options and ideas. My wifes in tears over this. I just cant get him to eat on a normal pattern. he takes 1 mouse when he feels like it and then we have weeks of nothing. Temps are on spot too. Any ideas? We are struggling with the choice of putting him to sleep if this does not improve....thats not what we want at all.

mabey try the vet. tell them to force feed - as it might be last resort
However 3rd week seems to urly to me to attempt such a risky procedure.

I had a blood python refuse to eat took em to the vet they said he will be fine for 6 month or longer with no food. So like a retard that i am i listened thinking they new what was best. And 2 months later i lost him :( I feel your pain on this and it does suck for you and the snake. I wish you the best :)

I say give it a little more time . not to much because he is growing week from not eating. And then attempt force feed.

Good luck

We have been down the force fed road many tmes before. Nub came thru a nasty shed/burn and lack of proper care. The vets in my area have no clue what to do with a snake {nice farmer vets is what we have...cattle,horses..live stock..bout covers it} Our old vet moved out of state and I can emial but even he said its not looking well.

The last force fed snake was on a tube feed. High protein caned dog chow {ya I know sounds really weird but it worked and the snake lived. advice from a vet after we tried to pureify a pinky in the blender...gross} Mixed with pedilite and made into a liquid diet. Put into a tube and force fed snake. I DO NOT recomend this method to ANY ONE. It was a LAST resort to save a very small snakes life. Ive thought about doing this with Nub.....but I dont know. Hes frail and extreamly thin. Any sort of force feed may cause regurge and stress.

Thanx marg :)

He took 4 mice tonight. Again random feeding. He cant seem to get a good pattern down like a weekly or bi weekly feed. Last time was 4 weeks, this time 3...its a hit and miss with Nub.

Glad no force feeding tho. If he can continue to eat some thing Im happy.
