 New to the site w/ 2 new snakes given to me

I am new to this site!!!!
I just got a BP given to me yesterday i think its 1 1/2 to 2 yrs old about 3 1/2 feet beautiful snake any tips on care and how do i tell the type of the BP!!!!He is very energetic held him for hrs no problems.So much fun!!!

Also have a Leucistic Texas Rat Snake got him about a week ago eat two mice this week!!!Don’t kno if the person before me was feeding him right anyone kno anything on these beautiful snakes!!!!!

Best advice I can give you is to read everything on them you can. The net is great. then come back with any questions you have.

How many times a month should he/she eat...And is there any way ican tell if it’s a he or she theres two two claw lookikng things at the bottom of the tail....I’m going to try to put pics up later i don’t kno if he/she is a normal or not lol you can tell i’m new to this

claws you refer to are spurs and can not be used to sex the snake.

They should eat every 5-7 days.

1 every 2 weeks is not enough for balls.


Balls need a once a week feeding. Larger snakes like boas and retics can go every 2-3 weeks due to large meals but balls dont get large meals. So stick to once a week.

I agree with Rich (of course). BPs need a scheduled weekly feeding.
