well i can answer the rubbermaid part. rubbermaids r basically plastic tubs that some people use instead of glass tanks. i used one for my mali uro...this is the biggest rubber maid i think they make?

that is 48x20x18H

lol....duh, generally you’d have a cage top. How else are you going to keep the snake in? They hold heat very well. Many people use rubbermaid or sterilite containers. If it didn’t hold heat and humidity well, why would I recommend them?

The biggest rubbermaid storage container I’ve seen is a 4 foot by 2 foot underbed storage container.

And you can’t ask us if a 10 gallon is too small for your snake. It’s YOUR snake. You can tell us yourself. Just look in the tank. Is there enough floor space? Or is it crowded? If your snake is 7 months old, I’d assume it probably is a bit crowded in there. My 7 month old is crowded in a 20 gallon, so a 10 gallon would be like stuffing her in a shoebox, lol.

well the room its in is kept at about 80º or so and obviously it keeps heat and better and u’d obviously need a top on if u had snakes in it..."duh"?..LOL!

I had thought about those, maybe zipties on the back like a hinge, drill four holes on each side (2 in lid, 2 in container) and maybe eight in the front (4 in lid 4 in container) all just far enough apart to put some decent tension on the bungees...but wouldn’t a strong snake get his head worked under the lip and get out? or do u just wrap them around? honestly if it’s going to be wrapped up in bungees, I think I’ll just build or order a 4’x2’x11.5" boaphiles or vision for 199 shipped. Heat would be installed for another what 15 directly from the factory?

My tank cost me 0$ to set up. I made the hides, had the waterbowls and fake leaves, and just put papertowels, had the heating pad. I put a belt on the middle. Because it secures it so they cant get out, but the underbed ones like I have have folding lids, so you can open the cage on whatever side they are on, without takng the belt off.

yeah that is cool, but I’m still worried the a good sized dum would escape, great for bp’s and corns, but I think I’ll go with a boaphiles or visions.

No, you just get a human heating pad set on low.

And n2t, I can not even unbuckle the belt it is so tight, but you can geet in from the sides, but they cant open the latches on the sides. I think your dumerils would be fine. I plan on putting carpet pythons in there, and I do no think they will get out. Its almost impossible to undue the belt, or life the lid off.

ty, but the only box with the right measurements is an xmas tree box at wallmart, and I don’t know that it’s as strong..the sides seem flexable, and rather thin...I will give it one more good look though..most likely it’s a boaphiles 422 though.

I use an under the tank heat pad on all of my Rubbermaids and there has never been a problem. Do you realize how much heat would have to be generated to melt plastic? You’re safe with a UTH under a Rubbermaid.

Just an additional comment on Rubbermaids...They are easy to clean, retain heat and humidity very well, provide a safe haven for the snakes, who will live stress-free in the nice, cozy Rubbermaid. Their sheds will be good, they’ll eat better and it’s so light and easy to move around.

You can get the kind that is self-adhesive or the kind that just sits under the tank. You’re supposed to allow an air space between the table and bottom of the enclosure, but to be honest with you, I don’t. If it were a heavy aquarium I would, but a lightweight Rubbermaid seems less of a problem. But to be safe, don’t do what I do and allow some air underneath.
