Do Ball Pythons Hybrenate? My Friends BP wont eat & stays on cool side. Advice?
Anyway, Im writting this because my friend has a ball python who isnt doing so well, and she is in need of advice, and I have no clue. He’s about 3 years old. has been doing great until recently. He burned himself on the under tank heater in June. She took him to the vet and he has since receoverd. Still has a bit of scarring, but was eating and doing well. She moved him about 3 months ago to another location in her home which is also low traffic, and he was still doing good, but now for the last 3 weeks stopped eating all together. She says he only stays in the cool side of his aquarium and wont come out- so far as she knows, anyway. She says he usually eats 3 adult mice a week and is down to nothing for the last 3 weeks. I dont have specific on temps.. But she says they havent changed. Someone told her that BP’s go into hybrenation. Ive never heard of it, but is it possible? Mine never did. And since we live in Canada and are having a cold spell.. Is it possible he may be just hybrenating even tho aquarium temps havent changed? Any advice would be helpful. I’ll ask her specifics on temps. Thanks~! ~R |

If its an adult ball python then its normal for them to not eat in winter and to spend time on cool side. If its a female its especially normal behavior |
