 I’m at a loss..

I know that threads like these are outrageously common but I’m at a complete loss.
I have a Ball Python (hasn’t been sexed but I just assume it’s a male) and he’s about 4 years old.
For the past year he’ll start fasting on and off, last year I think he refused to eat for maybe 6-7 months straight (I’ve read that they can go a year+ and be fine) or so and then I finally got him to eat live mice and then live rats. For the past 2 months or so he has stopped eating again, he won’t eat frozen/thawed and he won’t eat live rats. His set up is the same as it’s always been. I’ve tried just about everything that I can think of to try and get him to eat with no luck. I have a boa constrictor that I’ve had for about a year and a half and have never had a problem with him refusing to eat. Does anyone have any suggestions?

im not the most experienced guy with snakes, i only got into this when i got my first snake a normal male bp last year. the only reason im responding is because he fasted for 2 months and i just got him to eat. i setup another tank for him and got it hot like 90 whole tank, i woke him up it was at like 430pm totally not when he was used to. so i grab him out of his tank put him in other tank right in his hide and wait for him to start coming out, once i seen him poking his head out i tossed in a live asf(i feed mine asfs, whatever u use will proly do) kinda nudge the asf towards the hide opening and wham as soon as the asf and snake were face to face i believe the fight or flight response kicked in and he fought. as i said at the start im no expert just what happened for me.i keep hearing as long as you got everything right he will eat eventually but i know that suckswhen your snake aint eating, good luck bro

This time of year is breeding season for ball pythons, it is common for males to stop eating during this time. As a matter of fact mine isn’t eating either but he is breeding right now. This could be a pretty good reason why your snake is not eating. He will most likely do this every year.
