Why does my snake like it cold? I have had my snake for at least 4 months and now that it is getting colder, he spends his whole day and night in a cold corner of the tank. When I mean cold I mean like 75, the tank is 85 and warm is 90 or a little less. He just seems he likes to be cold. Id there something wrong with him?

MAy b its a little hot in your CAGE. THe thermometor is digital? EHH EHH?IS the thermometor high? because if it is close to the top of your cage then its warmer towards the bottom which would mean if it was 90 on top it could be 95 on the bottom or some thing. the thermometor should be towards the bottom kinda in the corner on the warm side. or if he doesnt like his hide on the warm side then he can be choosing protection over warmth. You should have a nice tight hide. a place you would think he doesnt fit in. they like a few hides. put a nice hide thats about 2 inches high if ure balls only about 8 months or some thing. hope i helped/.

Why does my snake like it cold? yes well, it is on the bottom of the cage. I have no idea, when I put my hand on the glass it is really cool (temp wise). Yes it is digital. I dunno what to do with him. I have 3 hides. One on the warm side, one in the middle, and one on the cool side. Thanks a lot though..as long as it is not really abnormal.

Why does my snake like it cold? The easiest way to not have to worry about it is to make sure there are no parts of the cage for him to be in that get lower than 80 degrees. Keep your warm side at 90-95 and cool side at 80-85, and let him decide what he wants. If your temperatures are around 75 degrees where he is, and he’s not moving much, he might be too cool to move much. When snakes get cool, their body seems to slow down and they’ll become sluggish. I bet if you upped the temperatures a bit, and maybe place him on the warm side, he’d be better off.How do you have the digital thermometers set up? Do you have the good ol’ setup of the probe under the hide on the warm side, and the digital unit itself sitting on the cool side?

Why does my snake like it cold? Same condition here. My snakes have all found the absolute coolest spot in the enclosure and just coil up there, although they are very active during their active periods. They almost avoid the warm spots. For many snakes, they expect a seasonal drop in temperature, along with higher and lower humidity levels to stimulate mating and help regulate their circadian rhythm. My guess is that your humidity level has tapered off due to the drier season now (winter) and that has triggered a seasonal response to conserve fluids, seeking a cooler spot and not drying out under the lamp. And don’t worry... Your snake is much better to be a little on the cool side than a little on the hot side.

Why does my snake like it cold? I would say drop the temps only a touch but snakes tend to do that. Africa gets pretty dang hot so snakes tend to seek cooler temps rather than seek heat.

Why does my snake like it cold? anyways i thought if snakes got hot they dig in the substrate to escape the heat or is that just over head heat?

Why does my snake like it cold? that would just be overhead...and i dont use a substrate they can dig in so i dont have much experience with it. I think those substrates are not great but whatever you want to use.

Why does my snake like it cold? i dont have that problem i just have a heat matt but i read somewere if you own a snake and you have over head heat and a heat matt you have to be careful because the snake could burry itself and burn it self on the heat matt im not sure how accurate that is though lol.
