My BP won’t come out of her hide

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have had my Ball Python for about 2 weeks now. When I got got her she didn’t have a hide in her enclosure, just a climbing limb and water dish. Of course I added a few things to make her more comfortable over the course of the first week.
The thing is that it has been 5 days since her last feed and she almost never moves from her hide. I have seen her twice since then. I don’t want to force her to come out, but I dont know if something is wrong or not.

Is this common or is there a problem that I haven’t figured out?
temp is between 80 and 90 degrees depending on the side and she is about 4 years old and has no problem eating

sounds like she is comfy and likes her set-up. this is the sucky part of bps- they do hide a lot. but it is normal. if you want to see her out, try looking more in the evening, with dim lights and when its quiet.

Okay thanks. Thats the second comment I got saying that nothing is wrong so I feel better now. The only thing is that she used to come out late in the evening every night, now I dont see her being nearly as active. Maybe its because of her new surroundings.

it could be because she is adjusting to changes, or it could be the opposite- she is comfy. Snakes can wonder their cages and people can misread it- think they are happy and cruising around, when the snake is uncomfortable, and just keeps doing laps.

When it gets close to her feeding night, she may come out in search of food. As far as being cool snakes to watch in their enclosures, bp’s kinda fail at that...lol. But i am sure you’ll discover your snakes scedule and hopefully you can sneak a peak at her. :D

Good news. She started to shed this morning and everything is coming out well. She’ll be back to normal by feeding time this evening.

Thanks for the advice!
