IS A NIGHT LIGHT IMPORTANT? I was also wondering if anyone can post pictures of their tanks so I can get a better idea of what to add or subtract from his cage. Thanks, I would appreciate it.

Just get a infared heat bulb. They last longer and give off a good amount of heat. Plus your snake will have the same day/night cycles as you and you don’t need to worry about changing it. I have used both exo terra and zoo med and zoo med is WAY better. I can’t give you picks cuz I don’t have a digital camera. Hope I helped.

IS A NIGHT LIGHT IMPORTANT? I do not think your snake is scared of the dark so you dont need a night light. But if you mean do you need a different light for night time..yes and no. You cannot use the day bulb. You can use no bulb and just use your UTH...since i am sure you have one. Or you can put in an infrared bulb.

IS A NIGHT LIGHT IMPORTANT? Desert Bob, how cold does it get in your room at night? If the temperature in your pets cage doesn’t drop below around 78 during the night then you should be ok, but if it drops lower (70 to 75), you may want to provide a night basking light in the warm end of the cage (unless you have an UTH) so it has a warmer area of around 80 degrees to warm up if it wants. And yes, a snake can get stressed easily, but follow the basic rules, provide hides, a day and night sequence and a hug now and then and he’ll be ok.

thats why u dont go to name store you need to go to specialist shops who ony sell reptiles and equipment. cuz alot of the lamers that work for big "Pet" shops are not even trained to ask questions so they really dont know $hit

IS A NIGHT LIGHT IMPORTANT? Green astroturf is ok to use, it just doesn’t clean as easily as shredded paper or aspen chips. Unless the turd is a nice firm consistency that allows you to pickup (which doesn’t always happen), you’re going to have to pull out the whole piece of astro turf to clean. I use it in a couple of reptile viv’s but they tend to go the bathroom in their swimming pool. I have extra pieces so when I pull out a dirty one, I can pop in a clean one right away while the dirty one is being washed, sterilized, rinsed and then dried properly. It does look nice though. I found it too much work in the snake cages and felt I could better utilize my time by using other substrates. So how much time do you have to clean? Not much time -- then use something easier than astroturf.

I dont find it all that difficult withthe astroturf. I’m thinking of going with the cedar chips though for the moisture. I went to a "reptile" store in town and got some good answers from them. www.regalreptiles.com Regal ReptilesMy bp didnt completely shed all of his skin. Still a couple flakes. I’m waiting till the next shed with those right?

IS A NIGHT LIGHT IMPORTANT? If a reptile store told you to use cedar I would never return there again. Cedar is very toxic to reptiles and the level of phynol is lethal (phynol can be lethal for humans).
