 Found a Basilisk
This guy is a large green Basilisk, almost 12 inches and looks very healthy. He was found buy the overnight maintinence dept. for a themepark I work at and they gave him to me. He obviously doesn’t like to be handled so I’d say he was wild accept I don’t think they are native to Florida. I read that they are from central and south america. Is he an escaped pet or is there a wild Florida variation?

yes he had to be an escaped or probably some jackass abandoned him, they are not native to Florida.

I guess it’s good he was found then. He must have been handled some. While he doesn’t appreciate being held ha has not tried to bite at all.

I’ve been reading up on them. I’d like to keep him. I was thinking about keeping him in a large outdoor cage (It’s about 5ft tall and 3wide and deep) when the weather is nice so he gets real sunlight. Do you have any "absolute" do’s or don’ts? He’s been eating pretty good and I’ve let him soak in my tub a few times because I don’t have a large enough water bowl for him yet. He has a large one but not big enough to swim in.

Well thats good. Just dont let the temperatures get too hot(green house effect) or too low(winter), and the size is good.
Just ask if you have specific questions.
