Well, they definitely aren’t the best pictures in the world but if I had to guess I’m thinking you’ve got a female there. I’m not seeing any evidence of a back crest and even in a youngster I’ve seen a somewhat pronounced ridge.

Here is a photo of my male green basilisk. He was a rescue. His casques (head frills?) are lost due to heat necrosis. HE stayed too close to the heat lamp in his old cage for too long which "cooked" them off.


His present home I constructed of pine and plywood frame with formica interior veneer, and an oak exterior veneer. The sides are screened. It is shaped in a rough triangle to fit in a corner of the room. He has an automatic misting system from Mistking which works very well. It so beats misting by hand.

The oils in pine and ceder are toxic, but you can seal them and make it safe.

Heres my stunner. I rescued her from a lad who was keeping her in a cool box with a snake and trying to feed her lettuce. Only yesterday i had to take her to the vets to have a tail amputation, and now shes on antibiotics but other than that shes doing great


and heres her tempory house. As soon as i move im building her a huge vivarium. LOOK, SHE HAD A TAIL! haha.
