 New basilisk and a couple of questions.

I have just recently purchase a green basilisk lizard. He is now in a pretty big enclosure (screened). Would it be okay to just throw a bunch of live crickets and other insects in there and just let him go grab them as he chooses. or is there a better way to accomplish him eating without having him going all the way to the bottom of the enclosure to eat. I’ve noticed that once i toss the crickets in there in about 10 min there all already up on the branchs near him or crawling the screen.

Screened cages arnt that good because they let out heat and humidity.

About the crickets, I wouldn’t just dump a bunch in because that poses the risk of the crix chewing on him and doing some pretty good damage(wich does happen) if he dosnt feel like eating.
You could feed him twice a day and stop putting the crix in when he stops eating.
