Here they sell them in pet stores , you can also check the papers
2) they need a LARGE cage, they are very energetic, they also need time out of the cage, they are escape artists & you need to BABYPROOF the room he is gonna be roaming in, or keep a good eye on him.
3) I dont know any sites, you can type it in your browser
4) I had ferrets years ago, no pics tho.

Repfanatic has a ferret, she will prob respond to this post

 Ferrets?

Dee is right, you can find them in pet stores, but you want a young one, they can be litter trained if you have the time, females are always spayed before they are sold, they have to be, because if they go into heat and are not bred they can die. They are for sure escape artists, my dad had one when he lived on a boat and he got off the boat, we know not how, and was missing for 5 days, then found on another boat a few slips away, where no one lived, there he was just sitting on the deck, rofl.......hungry as all get out but well, then years later my daughter had one here at our house, she was just the sweetest thing ever, but she also got out of our house and we have no idea how, but she was also found 4 days later, a neighbor had her, did not see our ad in the paper until she happened to pick up a copy of one to line the cage she bought to keep her in, how wild is that???????? We got her back also..........they do have an odor to them, not too bad, you can bath them and it cuts down on it, they loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee dry cat food, now my dad’s male was not neutered and he could be a real sh++ when he wanted to be, but my daughters female was always so sweet, never bit and was so much fun to have................but get a young one, one you can raise and train, if you get someone elses hand off you might be getting a problem child! Sadly we had them before digital cameras, so I do have pics someplace or both, but not sure where they are.............nice large cage, hammock, food dishes, water dishes................they make great pets!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure of any websights, but like Dee said, just type in Ferret in your search engine and bet you will find tons of info.........hope this helps and I say if you really want one, go for it, the are sooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!! Oh Dee and I saw one just last week at a local pet shop we were at, a little girl had it, just draped across her arm, so cute!!!!!!!!!!! If I did not have 6 cats I would think of getting one again.

Yes they do use a litterbox if they are in a small area...if they are in a big area, they will not travel to get to the box.
Also..they ALWAYS have an odor to them even if they are spayed/neutered, its not too bad but, you can still smell it.

Dee,
Is just a kinda musky type odor, not a bad one, and our male got a bath twice per week and it helped and so did the female, it never bothered us, better than cat boxes, rofl...............

Here’s my crew.
Jules

Gypsy

Vern

1) You can find them at some local pet stores, or you can try craigslist, or petfinder.com to see if there are any at animal shelters near you.
2) This is the cage my 3 live in

They also get a few hours of free roam time during the day.
3) Here’s a few good care sheets Link

If you have any more questions you can PM me. I haven’t been on here too much lately. Good luck.

 Ferrets?

Ferrets are very cool pets...but the smell of the poop and urine made me gag. The ferrets themselves were nare too bad if you keep them clean and descented...but that poop was just horrible! Our poor baby got cancer and died. His name was Chewie.

 Ferrets?

I had 3 ferretts up until recently. I’m down to 2. They’re so much fun, but a lot of work. They require a lot of attention. I love my ferrets dearly.

The positives are that they’re probably the happiest little animals I’ve ever had. They’re always happy to see you and are always game for some play time. They’re amusing to just sit back and watch them run around!

The negatives are that they stink. I have tried everything. It doesn’t matter. I clean their litter box every night and their cage about once a week. I even have stuff that you put in their water to make their poop less smelly and while it helps a lot, they still smell.. They can be nippy. My girl who passed in January never ever nipped. I have a baby I got last July, he’s pretty good. He’l more just nip when he’s playing with you so it’s not a big deal. But my other girl can be really bad. We almost got rid of her she was so bad. We’ve had her 2 years and while she’s not nearly as bad, she’ll just decide one day to be bad and bite you good and hard for no reason and not let go.. I don’t think she’s mean- she’s the most affectionate. I think she honestly doesn’t know any better. We’ve tried to teach her not to bite, but no luck.
They aren’t kids pets. They will nip fingers and toes. They think they can play with you the same way they play with eachother. If you’ve ever seen them play together, they’re favorite game, aside from hide and seek, is mock combat. It can get pretty rough. So they should be well supervised around children. The biggest misconception is that they’re vicious. They aren’t. And people get them without realizing that they cam be nippy little monsters. Then they put them away and the ferretts never learn any better and are always bad that way. Or they are mistreated or just sent to a shelter.

Like I said, they can be a lot of fun and can bring a lot of joy into your life, but yet do require a lot of attention. They aren’t like bunnies or hampsters where you can leave them locked up for weeks without handeling them.

Good luck! I will send some pics of my munchkins when I get home. I’m on my phone and can’t send any now...

R
