May I rant a little again.... please?

It was annoying at first, but actually kinda funny how frantic we were at the time. Earlier today, we went accross town to Winco to get wheat bran for mealworms... They were almost completely out, they only had 1 lb left (JUST enough to fill 1 6 qt tub 1.5") so we had to just suck it up and deal with it.

Next, we go to petco. I looked for the 500 ct cup of mealworms first, which are like $7, pretty cheap. NONE! So I asked if they had any in the back, the woman says no. Then I go to just get a few 100 count cups... NONE!! So I gave up and looked at the leopard geckos... They had the PRETTIEST gecko there... it might have been patternless, but I wasn’t for sure, but not in too good of conditions (i.e. calci-sand) so I went to the counter and asked if I could check out the leopard geckos. She points to the reptile area and says "Well, there they are," I looked at her like, ’are you kidding me?!’ And then she goes on to say that she isn’t allowed to open it because they are jumpers and they get away from them all the time. How do you expect to sell your animals if you won’t open the Dam cage?!! I was going to buy that gecko, too but, oh well!

So I went to petsmart. They keep their mealworms in the back, so I had to ask to get them. The guy said that they had 300 and if I would like all of them, so of course I said yes. He then comes out with 6 50 count cups and tells me that they are $3 per FIFTY!! So I just got irritated and told him that petco sells them for $2.69 per 100 and walked off.

So I spent an hour and a half frantically searching for what I needed and accomplished close to nothing LOL. Don’t you hate days like that?

I learned my lesson. DONT GO ACROSS TOWN WITHOUT CALLING TO SEE IF THINGS ARE IN STOCK AND YOU KNOW THE PRICE OF THEM lol.

rofl, that just sucks. I have a similar issue at petco. "Oh, you need a parent with you to hold any reptile" I was just like "WTF, I have 3 at home, and one is freaking pregnant. I’ve been bitten by too many snakes to name, and I can’t hold some 6 inch dragon!?" "I’m sorry ma’m, but we can’t be held liable if you drop it" I took out 60 bucks and showed them "see, if it dropped, which it WONT, I’d be able to pay for it." But nooo, they are all stupid heads! *devises genious plan for payback* But the hilarious thing is, I’m allowed to hold rabbits and mice. Both of which have bitten me so far down I’m bled. And I can’t hold a harmless lil reptile?!? *grabs mallet*

LOL aww man that sucks. Yeah, the petcos here are really strict (and stupid) but the petsmarts are really laid back. not only did I hold tang without my mom, I BOUGHT him without her too! They made me sign a contract and at the bottom it said that if you were under 18, you need a parent signature. I told the woman that I needed to go get my mom really fast and she replies "eh, don’t worry about it" LOL.

Lol, sorry to reply to a ridiculously old post.

Petco makes me SO angry! Most of the ones here will sell any live animal to ANYONE. My best friend’s 11 year old sister went there and bought a hamster last year. Now, that wasn’t so bad because she will take care of the darn thing (which was pregnant and aggressive, btw), but towards the end of the school year last year, I was in the music room after school and these DUMBA$$ freshmen came in with this poor terrified rat and were like "Guess what we got at PETCO?!" and they were carrying her around and there were dozens of screaming teenagers and she was scared to death! They wouldn’t let me have her (I should’ve beat them up, but my choir teacher was there) so the next day they came in with her and were like "yeah my mom said I couldn’t have it in the house so she spent the night on the porch". (!!!!??). So I took the rat (who was also pregnant, by the way) to my pet store where she had her babies in peace. THERE IS A REASON that stupid kids shouldn’t be allowed to buy pets on their own. It infuriates me that Petco lets them, even if it means that kids like us can’t buy them. Although why I would be in a petco in the first place, let alone buy an animal there, is beyond my comprehension : )

There is a huge shortage of mealworms across the US. I tried to order some online had no luck, checked stores nones. Guess what there is a person on ebay that is selling 1000 counts for 10.00 + shipping so I was lucky.

Reflex, I am sorry you had to go through all that. If you need info on the person on ebay let me know.

Hi, that is what alot of companies online are saying there is a shortage. I only have one pet store in town. Petco/petsmart are about 125 miles from I live, which is probably a good thing. Mark at the local pet store orders from people online, so he is unable to get them. I did finally get some from ebay, lol alittle pricey but I should get them next week, other than I usually buy them in bulk, so I still have some from the last order, thankfully.
