Baby Skinks Have Arrived!
There are 14 live babies right now. I really wasnt expecting so many lol... Im keeping two and already have two on hold for Edel. Not sure where I am going to sell the other 10. I’ll admit it, Im keeping the two prettiest, but hey, MY SKINKS! lol... There’s one thats just gorgeous, almost completely orange. Of course today is the day I lose my camera... Ive been looking for it for half an hour. When I find it I’ll post pics of them all. There was a weird smell in the house today, I wonder if all the gross afterbirth and blood was the source. Im about to scream like a little girl, so I’ll stop here... off to look for the camera! Danny |

I give their parents the same greens I give my dragons. The staples being mostly collard, mustard, and turnip greens. Usually I’ll chop it up as fine as I can get it and hide it in their other food (a little cat food, mashed fruit, a bit of baby food, or their proteins). Sometimes they’ll take the greens by themselves though. I’ll admit, Ive gotten really creative. I took a small FT mouse and stuffed it with greens. LOL... They like squashes too, the same ones you feed your beardies. They love their meats. They get mice, cat food, chicken, beef, turkey, sometimes the occasional eggs. Basically whatever meats we have in the house. I love to treat them to a little tastey mental stimulation. Its a blast to watch... either give them an egg and let them crack it open and lick out the insides, or give them (supervised) a mouse. An adult diet is 50/40/10 (veggies, meat, fruit) and they do hunt in the wild so giving them a mouse to kill every now and then lets them keep their instincts active. This isnt neccesary, but its a good activity for them. You dont have to do it if you dont feel comfortable with it. lol Im sure CP would enjoy watching them hunt. I’ll get some pics of them eating, just to make you guys cringe at the adorableness. No reptile is cuter than a baby bluey scuttling around with a mouth full of chicken. |
