Need Some Help...
I purchased Saffron a few months ago (perhaps some of you remember my posts about her?). She was my first non-rescue beardie, and my second that I intended to keep (though I’ve had dozens and dozens of fosters and rescues). When I decided to keep her, I was confident that I would be able to pay her medical bills, have a place for her, etc. etc. everything that comes with being a good pet owner. At this point, a LOT of things have happened. My parents split up, I’m moving out, I don’t have a job, I have no way to pay rent, my friend who was supposed to move in and help out with rent can’t because of this and that, and Saffron needs to go to the vet. It’s probably something minor, she’s just got some diarrhea and probably has some sort of regular parasite that needs some medication. Has anyone used Flagyl/Metronidazole for beardies/reptiles and what is the dosage per pound? How many times per day and how long do you give it? I would really like to try this while I do my best to scrape up some money for the vet visit. I am getting paid next week for babysitting some dogs for a while, and was planning to take her in then, but now with my roommate situation that money may have to go to rent, or neither I, nor Saffron, will have a place to live!! Please let me know if you have any experience with this. I have never EVER given up any of my animals (besides fosters, of course), and never planned to. However, if an absolutely PERFECT home comes along for her, I will CONSIDER rehoming her. Just looking for some advice...I have a fabulous vet with reasonable prices, so I don’t need any recommendations in that department. This is Saffron. She’s a pure Citrus I was hoping to breed in the future (obviously only when I can afford many hungry baby mouths!).

The dosing for this is 2 mls per kg body weight, so you will give 0.2 mls for every 100grams. I’ll list individual doses below, but you should double check my calculation in case there’s a typo or cyberspace does something wierd to the message. Again, it’s 0.2 mls per 100 grams body weight. Give once and repeat this dose in 14 days (reweigh your youngsters if they are growing rapidly and adjust the dose accordingly). It’s fine to treat the skinks and probably a good idea. Our dragons are weighing: Androth - 499 grams--1.0 mls Haldir - 126 grams--0.25 mls Galdor - 614 grams--1.25 mls Galadriel - 548 grams--1.10 mls Thalion - 405 grams--0.8 mls Erulisse - 308 grams--0.62 mls Alasse - 338 grams--0.68 mls Antien - 358 grams--0.72 mls Ainu - 264 grams--0.53 mls Ohtar - 314 grams--0.63 mls Beleg - 296 grams--0.59 mls Sunny - 497 grams--1.0 mls Giliath - 275 grams--0.55 mls Blue - 467 grams--0.93 mls Skinks: 2 months old Baskin - 130 grams--0.26 mls Robbins - 205 grams--0.41 mls Hope you can get the appropriate size needleless hypo ...easily available at any feed /horse / tack supply Cp

They are not mine ...The are Edel’s ..(Dragonlover) but I treat and care for them as though they are mine. They are very kewl and spunky critters... this is a maintenance routine ...they are not critical with the paracites ... just that we want to eliminate them before they possibly get out of control. Last fecal shows a normal amount according to the vet. I hope you can find the proper medicine and all goes well. Your always welcome Cp |
