 Aggressive Behavior

My beardie has gone ballistic. I got him just after Christmas and he was aprox 8 weeks old. He was sweet and lovable. He now attacks even when I am just standing next to his cage he tries to lunge at me through the glass. I have a couple nasty bites to show for it. I was handling him everyday, now I have trouble even feeding him he lunges when I put his crickets and worms in, even his veggies. I am unsure as to his sex but I really care for him and am frustrated as to what to do. I have now resorted to using a leather glove when putting my hands in the cage he attacks that too. I need help! Any advice would be welcomed!

Sometimes reptiles become more cranky when they are close to shed. Is that a possibilty?

I’ve heard of quite a few stories like this with males being gentle and then suddenly turning aggressive. You could try using a blanket to throw over him so you can pick him up. For some people this may or may not work. But, you cannot give up and let him win you have to correct him soon so he doesn’t think he’s won. Have you changed anything in his tank?

Hi! I’m a little new to owning a beardie, but I’ve done a lot of research and have a couple books. I’ve recently read about "beardie puberty" when the beardie becomes very aggressive and defensive. According to the sites and books this normally happens between 9months & 12 months of age(if they’re correct). They recommend just slowing down your enteraction with your beardie to every other day and take it very slowly. Like puberty with a teenager I would imagine that you should kinda let his behavior lead you a little, but don’t give up! Everything I’ve read says if you keep calmly enteracting with your beardie then this shall pass.......I really hope this helps & again I’m sorry if it doesn’t. Good Luck!!!
