Ever hear of petsmart?? I had issues there as well. I was keeping my eye on a luecistic gecko there hoping he would come down a lil in price (he was 89.99) He looked quite healthy but the employee told me he was mean. A few weeks went by, and I checked on him again and he was hiding in the back of his tank under a log but he still looked ok from what I could see. Another few weeks went by and I stopped in to see if he was still there and he was under his log just like a the last time I was there to visit. I stood there looking at the other reps and all of a sudden, this skinny, half dead gecko (him) came to the glass, literally fell over into his water dish, and just looked at me. It was as if he came out to me to say "please save me". I ran and got the manager and I was putting up a stink. They refused to let me buy him or give him to me to help. I even told them that I would give him back if I got him thru the night and got him healthy again. They refused. To make a loooong post short, I made phone calls, complaints, talked to everyone I could possibly talk to, was lied to over and over. The truth was, the gecko was left in the store over night by itself, without the care he so desperately needed. He passed away They tried telling me they were gonna take him to a Vet after the store closed (it was a Sunday). They even told me a week later that he was healthy and he was sold! The district manager told me the truth...that he was left to die. They offered me a 50 dollars gift card for my troubles and for being lied to. I told them to stick it...that I wouldn’t even spend their money in their store. I also saw a baby beardie there nawing on his wooden branch obviously hungry as can be. Told and employee and she said "Yeah, he’s a pig. He’ll get fed tomorrow" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Le me tell you a little about the petco that is near us. We went to buy our first bearded dragon there and brought him home and kept him for about 5 days, let me just say we were not educated on beardies when we bought him and couldn’t figure out why he wouldn’t go to the bathroom after 5 days, so we took him back cause they have a 15 day return policy. We brought Deuce hoe and have been happy ever since. The beardy we took back went to the vet and they fixed whatever problem and they had him back out there in the tank about a week later and he looked great, was eating and pooping and we felt really bad for taking him back. Every time we went back in there we would see him and fell horrible for taking him back. Brad went in a few days later and he was gone. A happy family rescued him. I admire Petco for taking I’m to the vet and getting him a happy home. Since then we have not seen anymore beardies for sale in there. I really don’t have an opinion of them other than that. We do buy some stuff from them but i have to admit, there poor Leo tank looks horrible. The petco buy our house never has enough help and we always have to hunt someone down to get crickets or any help. Sorry for all you who have had horror stores from there but i guess all pet stores are different. Brad and I our battling with the pet store down the road (its a family owned store) because they wont put UVB on there beardies and they have them on sand. The Lady that works there loves us its like when we come in she asked us to come look at her bearides. But why, she wont listen to us when it comes to lighting and the sand. If we breed CHI CHI and Deuce she wants to buy our babies and we are like i dont think so, i mean, the lady has a beardy at home and it has UVB lights but why want they put them on the ones they are selling. CHI CHI came from this pet store and we think her growth may have been stunted because of this. There is another lady that works there who was really rude to Brad the other day when he told her about the UVB lights. He said they wont grow and thrive without it and she said, oh, they are growing just fine.
