Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? A lady at a pet store tried to tell me that if you feed your bearded dragon any kind of worms you have to de-worm them like once a month. I havent heard anyone mention that so I figured it wasnt true. So my Beardies are 2 years old and have never had a worm because I believed her....lol...

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? Nice dragons!!! Unfortunately, you, like the rest of us are learning the hard way about pet stores. It is tough to believe anything they tell you because a) most of them don’t have a clue what they are talking about, and 2) They will sell you any kind of product, whether it is good for your pet or not. Their priority is to make $$$$.Firstly, I would suggest that you have your beardies vet checked. Take a fecal sample (no older than 4 hours) and have it analyzed for parasites. Most beardies have them, especially when they first come from a pet store. Medications are relatively inexpensive. I would suggest that you take them off the wood chips. It is dangerous and can cause impaction if accidentally injested. I use wheat bran and love the look of it, and my girls like to dig in it. Others here use paper towels or shelf liner which is also excellent. I am assuming that you feed crickets to your dragons. You can also feed silkworms as a staple diet. It is excellent! High in calcium, but a little more expensive. As a treat, they love superworms or waxworms. Never feed mealworms as it is hard for them to digest and can cause illness. A good diet site is www.beautifuldragons.com I love this site because it gives you the breakdown of what is good and not good to feed. Now that I have rambled on, tell us more about your beautiful dragons!!!! Joan2, Puffy and Sasha Sunshine

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? Thank you for rambling I like it. Anyway, I didnt get mine from a pet store. I had a friend order them from his breeder in California. But to be honest I dont even know the name of where he got them. But I trust him. The lady at the pet stoire that was telling me that is actually the wife of the person I had build my tank for my beardies and she has had babies and she has 2 adults. So I figured, "why not believe her?" But now I know. I didnt think bark was bad, but I did just go buy some of that shelf liner stuff, but I just feel like she finally just got used to her tank and I dont want to change it but if the bar is really that bad I will change. She just likes to dig little dips to sleep in and stuff and I didnt want to take that away from my Gigi. I feed my beardies crickets yes but they are mostly on greens. lots of them. Do you think if i gave them worms now (after 2 years) if it would mess with their diet. What if they like them so much they dont want to eat thier other food..lol? No but seriously? Ok I will stop rambling now..hehe Sara

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? I also use and like wheat bran and they can still dig in it to get spots to sleep..play..est and its soft. I second taking out the wood chips. I have not heard of deworming once a month if you feed worms...I think thats what you said.I feed mine crickets/greens(salad)....and super worms/butter worms on occasion for treats I just dont reccomend going over board so they dont get hooked. They really like the worms. LOL I would have a stool sample checked if you never have... your dragons look very healthy and happy...beautiful...do you have 1 male and 1 female? or 2 female?

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? If you look back at the very top picture you will see my 2 males on top of eachother and then the female is the one by herself. The recent picture is 1 of my males (Big D is his name) and he is "looking mad" hanging out with my girl Gigi. Here is a pic of the males soaking up the sun.

and the boys checking out the cat...lol..they all get along..its great

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? Yea I wouldnt beleive the petstores. My plan is to(when I turn 18) work at petco or petsmart(which are the 2 petstores around me that are horrible!) and change everything they do. Like they use calci sand and aspen, etc. and tell people the wrong things, like "yea sure! Iguanas are so easy to care for", yea well I’m going to tell people the truth! I know I will probably get fired after like the first or second day but I would feel much better that I tried to do something about it!Anyways! Do you keep those males together? Thats not a good idea! Males will get very aggressive/territorial and will fight! I would definitely seperate them as soon as possible! Also if you dont want babies then dont keep your male and female together! Or maybe you had a plan I dont know, I was kinda lazy and didnt read it all, lol! Steven

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? OK Peeps..My 2 males are housed together and always have been. As you can see they do not fight. They never have. My female is in her own tank. She and the male were together for a reason. I have 15 eggs in an incubator right now. Those pictures are actually from the day they mated. they are all 2 years old and very healthy. Thanks Sara

Do you have to de-worm bearded dragons? Why would you still say seperate if they get along? Do they not start acting agressive until a certain age or what? They like each other. They sleep with eachother and they hang out with eachother all the time? Why seperate now? Thanks Sara
