 The beardie garden

Our beardie garden is growing like mad. We have a total of 10 pots of greens going. I can’t wait for the weather to get nice so I can plant some outside too. At this rate I’ll have nothing but plants in the new tank (still not done yet)

Thanks! I think it was Caroline that originally had the idea of planting a garden I just figured I’d put the entire thing in the tank. I think they will love it.

 The beardie garden

I just bought some seeds on Saturday, and I’ve already planted them outside. I bought collard greens, mustard greens, and endive. I was going to try to grow some squash, but I thought it might be a little too ambitious. I think I’ll just wait and see what happens with the ones I planted first...

Ack! Yours are growing faster than mine- it’s too cold here! They look great and I bet your beardies will be thrilled!!!! I put my little flats out in the sun on Saturday to try and speed up their growth a little. Just too cold for them to really take off yet!

This is one I started as seeds about 5-6 days ago. They are in the basement where it’s a tad on the colder side but growing like crazy.

Your sprouts are growing like crazy! SOooo cute! lol! Here’s my collard plant that I bought at Target which is in Jango’s tank. It’s the plant on the left. The plant on the right is a dieffenbachia, but I’ve taken it out and put a fake one in its place because it was growing too big. Since I’ve taken the pic about a week ago, I’ve transplanted the collard into a bigger pot because the poor lil’ plant was root-bound. Luckily, it still fits into Jango’s tank, but I’m sure it’ll be too tall soon. Jango completely ignores the plants in her tank. She doesn’t nibble them or try to crawl up them. She’s never even touched them. I guess that’s a good thing because they grow well underneath the UVB lamp. By the way your sprouts are growing they’ll soon look like this. . .

Apparently I do NOT have a green thumb. I planted dandelion seeds 3 weeks ago and don’t have anything growing yet. Plenty of sunshine and water but no sprouts.

Randy, where did you find the dandelion seeds??? I bought 3 different kinds of seeds to plant (collards, endive, & mustards), but I could not find any dandelion. Share your secret, now! lol

eBay, in the reptile section, which for some reason is found in the heading under Home and Garden. I paid $5, which covered S&H.

Xta that’s funny because I kill every plant I have had indoors. For some reason these are going great and I hope they continue to do so. It helps that the cat can’t get to them and chew them up, LOL!

That is a wonderful idea!!! I am proud of you for being such a smartie!!! I hope I can find the seeds up here! Collard is not eaten up here, nor some of the other beardie delights....

One of us could mail you a packet of seeds!! I know what you mean, Joan about not being able to get certain greens- I was nearly jumping up and down in the store the other day when I found a bunch of turnip greens- I’ve never found them at my regular store before- people probably thought I was insane, smiling at turnip greens. I usually have to go to the other side of town to get mustard and turnip and sometimes collards!!!

No problem, just drop me an e-mail and let me know what you would like me to send and your address. It’s the least I can do for the girls!
I have gotten so many little plants from one pack of seeds and I still have about 1/2 of each pack left.
