Help!!
I have recently purchased 2 dragons, and I am pretty sure that the female has eggs (I can feel them), whether or not they are fertile, I’m not sure. I am new at this and feel as I’ve gotten in over my head. I am trying to do research on what to do for them, can anyone help with the answers to these questions? How do I know if she is egg bound? Do I need to set up some type of nest for her or will she just lay them anywhere? Is it okay to leave the male with her (he gets very depressed when seperated)? Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Help!!
I’d separate them, the odds of a female becoming too stressed to lay her eggs go way up if she feels that she doesn’t have a secure nesting site so the presence of another dragon greatly increases the risk. The mother needs to feel that nobody is going to find her eggs and damage or eat them or she may refuse to lay. Eggbound females are in pretty obvious distress, straining to lay but nothing comes out. You’d know it if you saw it. Normally the eggs come every couple of minutes once they actually start laying. It’s a lot of hard work but doesn’t take very long at all. If nothing happens in an hour, call a vet ASAP. You need a soft, moist substrate such as topsoil mixed with sand, vermiculite, or ground coconut husk such as Bed-a-beast. The substrate should be moist enough to hold its shape if you dig a test hole but not saturated. It should be around 6 or more inches deep so that she can dig a nice little nest chamber. An ideal situation is to make a nest box that will fit right into her cage so that she can lay her eggs whenever she chooses and can stay under her own lights.

Help!!
Well, I’ve mixed sand and potting soil together for her and mounded it up at one end of her cage (75 gallon) and am keeping it moist. She is going crazy with digging. I walked in this morning and she was asleep in a hole...she looked exhausted...is this normal?
