 Digital Cameras

Hey ya’ll, Does anyone have a digital camera that is really able to capture the true color of their bearded dragons? We are looking into buying a new one- but we want to get the absolute best for capturing the color. We have a Kodak Easy Share now and oh my gosh does it suck. We also have a Fuji I think, and it’s like a 2.0 megapixel and it’s really bad too. I heard Canon & Nixon are the best overall, but I specifically want color. Any suggestions?

You get what you pay for with digitals. Most all will have a color cast in one direction or the other (even my 14n), this is easily corrected with photoshop if you have any experience with the program. A lot of capturing color has to do with lighting, avoid using direct flash on them. Soft diffused natural light is best unless you have access to a photo studio (and then the beardies won’t cooperate lol). As far as cameras I would recomend.... If $$$ is no concern go with the Kodak 14n (about $5000 for the body), not realistic for most people. Check out www.dpreview.com they are an independant company that reviews everything digital, and they are very good and very accurate. They don’t pull punches just because someone like kodak or fuji put their name on it, if it sucks they’ll let you know how and why. You can also pull up several cameras at once and compare all the specs side by side.

Good Luck,

Sean

Nice pics!!! We decided to go with the Nixon Cool Pix 4300. Apparently, it’s one of the best cameras for macro (really up close) pictures. We ordered it off line so we should get it in a few days... Hopefully it’s as good as everyone says it is!

My dad’s camera is a Sony MpegMovieHQX Digital Still Camera DSC-F717. It has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens (this is good). It’s a Cyber-shot with 5.0 megapixels. It has 10x precision digital zoom. It’ll take approx 410 shots or approx. 205 minutes. It uses memory sticks and has a USB connection straight to your PC.

That was basically reading off some things it says on itself, now for some personal experience... buy the memory sticks with less memory space on them, but not too little. They’re the same size (in handling) as the ones with more memory, but way cheaper. Both kinds are so small, how could it bother anything to pay a lot less money to carry a few extra sticks around? They’re SMALLER than a piece of gum, each. This camera’s kinda old, so its price is probably down quite a lot. There are newer models out. I would recommend a sony digital camera, at the least. Digital cameras are a MUST, as you can view the photo before printing, and never have to mess with processing charges at a film store. All you have to pay for is paper, or you can keep them on the PC and pay nothing. I’ve always had good experiences with Sony. I have a Sony cd player that’s nearly 6 years old and has been dropped in water before, and has been left in the car for days on end during the afternoon in zero shade parking lots... and STILL runs like new! It has a few scratches and dings, but oh well.

Check out http://www.hddclan.gq.nu/photo.html to see some shots taken with this camera. The top two pictures of people, and all the pictures of bearded dragons have been taken with this camera.
