| The easiest way to go is to buy a cheap styrofoam Hobavator from a feed and seed, Agway or pet specialty store. They are usually under $40 and hold temps very well. Another way to go is to get a cooler, put a few inches of water on the bottom and submerge an aquarium heater. Place the egg containers on bricks or something to keep them out of the water but close enough to absorb the humidity and heat. You just pick the eggs up and put them in your incubation medium, being careful not to turn them over. I use a pencil to mark an X on the tops so I always know which end is up. Just be sure the mom is at least 18 months old and has been well-fed and supplemented for 2-3 months before she mates so that the babies are off to a good start and mom doesn’t become eggbound or nutrient-deficient and best of luck with the breeding. |

| No soil, that just increases the chance of mold growth. |

| Oh, and you do NOT want an undertank heater, but an aquarium heater that actually goes into the water and has a thermostat to keep temperatures stable. Something like this: Aquarium heaters |

You do not just place the eggs on the bricks!!! Yo have to use a substance called vermiculite, which can be found in flower stores. This material holds moisture very well, which hydrates the eggs, which keeps tehm alive. But before you go and mix the vermiculite, you have to have a percise mixture! You should search it up on the internet, it will tell you how to mix it correctly! |
