Question.. My boss has been trying to incubate some eggs. They looked pretty good when laid, and are still very white (it has been almost 2 weeks). Anyways, we are incubating them at work, and I have been in charge of them. I was off yesterday, and she turned the incubator up TO 90 DEGREES!!! When I came in today, they were at 89, and 4 of the eggs collapsed. I immediately turned it down, and sprayed the perlite. Do you think she might have cooked the eggs? I feel so bad, I told her not to let it get above 84 degrees, but apparently she did not hear me. What do you guys think? The rest of the eggs are still firm and white, but again, 4 of them have collapsed, but are still white.

Question.. short trips into the low 90’s don’t seem to be too harmful but i wouldn’t do it on a regular basis. I have known some breeders that will incubate as high as 89 at a constant but i recomend more around 83 to leave some room for error. Once the incubator is set there is usually no need to touch it until hatch. the dented eggs are probably a result of the higher temps causing the water to dehydrate faster and the faster resperation of the eggs, with lowering the temp and adding a bit of water to the substrate you’ve fixed the problem. Good luckSean
