Is it normal for my female to lay an infertile clutch her first time?! I went to clean out their cage today and I found some eggs that were empty and shriveled up. Am I a bad lizard mommy?! I feel SO terrible!!!!!

Infertile eggs
Infertiles are very common for the first clutch. Try not to be so hard on yourself but feed her up well and spoil her and praise her for her hard work.
It’s not a bad idea to keep her away from males for at least 3 months to decrease the chances of her ovulating again so she has a chance to rebuild her nutrient stores and have a better chance of producing fertile eggs next time. But there’s still a possibility she is retaining sperm and she may clutch again even if not stimulated by male pheromones.

Infertile eggs
I took her to the vet this morning. ANd she said that the eggs were not calcified. They were orange and shriveled. I felt SO terrible! She also has peritanitis from the eggs that weren’t passed yet. I was almost crying in the vets office I felt so terrible. She gave me some antiibiotics and calcium drops to give her. And I am pampering her like crazy. I even slept in the living room where her cage is last night. Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. And thank you for making me feel better. I feel terrible I did not catch this sooner, but I am glad I caught it before it was too late.
