 Just my opinion.............

Alot of threads about problems with incubating eggs. So I thought I would just give instruction on what has worked best for me for anyone who is struggling with their eggs going bad.

What I do is: as soon as I know mine has mated I set up my incubator (hova bator) to 83.5 degrees. I mix the vermiculite and water and put in the incubator with 2 cups of water. When the eggs are laid, the incubator temp is already regulated and the vermiculite is ready for the eggs so I can just take the container out, go to the lay box and start placing the eggs into the container of vermiculite then put the lid on tight since there are holes around the top of the container (for air circulation) and then just check them every week or two to make sure the vermiculite is still damp. I have never had to add any water to the vermiculite until about 50 days after they were laid. so it is pretty much a kick back and wait type deal. If you have to add any water use a syringe so that you don’t get water on the eggs. hope this helps all those who has been having so much trouble.
If you make sure your breeding pair has the proper supplements prior to breeding, you really shouldn’t have too much trouble with incubating the eggs and having healthy hatchlings. good luck to all. TL
P.S. with my hatchlings, I do make sure I handle them so that they are tame before they go to new homes that way their new owner will be able to enjoy them instead of fearing they will get bit.

 Just my opinion.............

I dig mine up from the dirt nest, place them in perlite that I mix by soaking then remove it by the handfull and squeeze excess water out before putting it in the egg boxes, I never add water as most of the water absorbed happens in the first month. I let the eggs incubate and check them once every few days or once a week. The icubators myself and Bayoubeast use are homemade, one holds 9 egg boxes, 4 hold 3 egg boxes, 1 hold 2, and 1 holds only one egg box. We need a bigger incubator soon though as they are almost constantly filled with beardies and snakes. Each egg box holds over 21 eggs with 1 inch or more around them and 2 or more inches deep of perlite.
