 Separation

After I brought my beardie home, the vet told me to separate her from the male for a while and when I did, he seemed to miss her. Is this possible?! And when I put her in there he layed at the base of her tail(not trying to dominate by getting higher) it was like he was protecting her. Do they actually miss theie mates when they are gone? It is like he KNEW that she was sick. It was amazing.

I think he could miss her, yes. (not that it should keep you from separating them if that is the best thing for her health, however).

 Separation

My male dragon gets totally lovesick when the female is absent. She just recently had a broken arm and I had to separate them because he was being too rough. If your dragon doesn’t have some contagious illness, then you should be able to let him spend a few minutes with her here and there, just to reasure him that she’s still around. If she is contagious, you’d probably want to let him at least SEE her every once in a while. Any time mine don’t see each other for even a few hours they get obviously depressed. Hope she gets better soon.

 Separation

I let beardies that are healthy run around together on the living room floor in the afternoons so they have social interaction but can retreat to their own cages for private dining and sleeping. They seem to like that arrangement and let me know when I am late letting them out.

I have actually made "chastity belts" out of a bandanna to keep aggressive hormonal males from mating with the girls. I just tie it around the vent area, doing a figure 8 around the back legs, and use one on the girls so the boys can try as they like but never succeed. Otherwise Rodin, my most sexually aggressive male, would mate at each and every playdate.

That little horndog has even mated with my foot!

by all means they can miss each other my 1st male passed they used to lie together with their tails intertwined it was so cute my female would rub up against the cage and then just lay around you could almost see the sadness in her i spoke with other bd owners and they reccommended replacing the male she started to become very somber. now when her and slash are apart he’s sad
