 Snapping beardie?

My friend who lives in another state told me that her beardie is prego. But her beardie snaps its mouth that it makes a "pop" sound and then it sounds like she grinding something in her mouth. I heard it over the phone. Is that a normal behavior when pregnant? I never heard of it. My friend had checked to see if anything was stuck in her mouth. but found nothing. I have owned beardies for many yrs and never saw or heard of this. Anyone have a clue why she is doing this. My friend insists everything else is normal and her beardie never did this before.

I have a 2 year old male that does that any time he chews. I’m not sure what it is, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.....my only thought on this was maybe grinding his teeth together, and since they’re kinda soft, like cartilage, the top and bottom teeth are catching on each other, then when he shifts his jaw from chewing, they pop away from each other, like a rubberband, and this is causing the popping noise?? lol That was a really screwy description, but it’s the best I can do. lol If you ever find out for sure what it is, will you let me know?

 Snapping beardie?

Hi Y`All,
Sorry to "barge" in on your Post. But, Pixie grinds her teeth too. I was gonna ask the Vet about it. I was beginning to think maybe She`s got some kind of a chewing problem. She would still rather eat slurry than anything else. I mix her chopped greens into it, so She has to chew them. But still, It`s like eating chunky pudding. She`ll eat silk and Phoenix worms after I dip them in the slurry... Pam, I think it was You who mentioned having a picky Dragon....Is this the same one who is also grinding His teeth? Do You think maybe it`s a nervous thing? (My husband grinds his teeth when He sleeps because He`d rather worry than talk.) Hmmmm.... I wonder if anyone else has experience with Beardies grinding their teeth??????? Rayna

I thought of asking the vet too, but I haven’t had a reason to take him in for anything, and my vet’s kind of an who always tells me to bring them in just for a simple question. I don’t fancy paying $60 to get a question answered. lol So if your vet is nice enough to share his opinion with you for free, be sure to let us know!!!

ok..Yeah, She is. I can call anytime and if the vet is busy, She will call me back. Actually, I have to go up there before week`s end to have some "samples" tested. I may even take Pixie along and let her listen to the sound She makes. I will let you know. Rayna

LOL I really didnt think it was normal, maybe a nervous or communication habit? I am dying to find it out. I called my vet and he said he doesn’t know what it is, but he has heard of it occuring. Not a health issue if nothing is stuck in their mouth. That is why I was wondering about it. Very Perplexing!
