Odd question for Pam or Sean

I have an odd question. Have you heard of a BD, who is very obviously gravid, go from fat and happy to skinny and happy overnight? Hades is preggo and has already laid 1 clutch and last night was showing all the signs of being gravid, but no digging indicating she was ready. This morning she was digging and was all svelte and skinny as if she had just laid. I checked her enclosure and found no eggs. She is with 3 others, 1 M, 1 F, and 1?, but there are no signs of eggs anywhere. Any thoughts you could share will be appreciated.

Maybe somebody ate the eggs???? You really shouldn’t keep them like that, especially gravid females.

It’s possible, but there is no evidence of eggs being laid at all. And I have heard time and time again about separation of beardies, but mine have never had problems socializing and until they do I’m going to keep doing what I think best. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Dean,
I had the same thought as Sean, someone ate them. lol I’ve had days though, when I thought for SURE that Frisky was going to drop another clutch, but she was just looking particularly rouncd those days, I guess. lol How long has it been since she laid the first clutch?

You are right dude do what you want. Those dragons love a good "EGG" breakfast. You might want to cook them some ham the next time to go with them. Sorry Doug sometimes I can’t help myself.

Odd question for Pam or Sean

Hello Pam,
It’s been about 6 weeks since her first clutch, she is weird and goes long. It was almost 9 weeks from mating to actually laying the first one. She displayed the same "symptoms" of pregnancy as she did the first time, ie: gradually getting more plump, scratching at the front of the tank, etc., just no digging. then, all of the sudden, BAM, thin again. I have thought that the others had a great breakfast but there are absolutely no signs of it such as egg bits, yolk smears, nothing. I also thought they could have been absorbed but I wouldn’t think that would go so quick. She is still the same healthy, feisty, bitchy, wonderful critter so she isn’t sick so I’m not too worried about her. Next time I guess I’ll fry up some bacon and hash browns to make it a complete meal.
Thanks for your advice Pam, and thanks to you again Sean.
Y’all take care,
Dean

I am still planning to move back, but it won’t be until I finish school, which won’t be until around late October to early November. I am moving the wife and kids back Memorial day weekend, and I will have a little vacation in August that I will use to bring my BD’s and other lizard down.
I have an update on the pseudo-gravid Hades. Today she was back to her plump glory. Maybe she’s doing weight watchers when I’m not looking.
So I’m looking at possibly 4 females laying this year. This ought to be fun. The clutch I have in the inc. only has 8 out of 37 that look good, and these should be pretty. The dad is a super citrus, and the mom is gray with coral sidebars and a light green stripe down her back.
Take care,
Dean
