 Frustrated and Sad

Most of my first clutch I sold to local pet shops...While my eggs were incubating, I checked out how well kept these pet shops reptiles seem to be.
All but one shop seems to have taken great care of my babies.
The pet shop I thought I had the most confidence in however just broke my heart.
Of my first clutch i still have two that Im holding for Friends on vacation..They are fat and healthy and eating well.
I went to go check how my guys at what I thought was a good place for my babies were doing . ( They had healthy baby geckos, Iguanas and tree frogs.) This is a place were I heard a sales person tell a customer that Iguanas are not a good first reptile.
My four babies were less than half the size of their clutch mates...And sadly of all, one baby had both her back feet bitten off, one other had a tail nip..
Attacking rarely helps so I went home to clear my thoughts. I called the manager and explained to her what I had seen. I asked her if I could help with their husbandry...( the shop looked great, large enclosure, clean fresh water, fresh greens, UVB, heat, artificial plants that all but the most injured beardie were climbing on.)

The manager said that the injuries occurred while crickets were being fed..They were witnessed..NONE of my other babies so far had injured each other...

We finally figured out that they were being fed allot of healthy veggies, but just a few crickets each, each day.
She thanked me profusely and said although they had had other reptiles, they hadnt had other beardies in a long time.

For now on Im going to give care sheets, even to pet shops...The manager seemed very concerned about the now handicapped beardie...She said that the baby was still as active as the others ,and was eating.

Never Assume

That’s so sad! I sold some of my babies to our local pet shop, and I go in there every few days to check on "my" babies, lol. I gave the pet store a care sheet, and I also made copies of care sheets to be sent home with every customer that buys a beardie. So far, so good. Kudos on staying calm when you found one of your babies with its back feet bit off. I think I would have bitten the store owners head off, lol.
