There are a lot of things wrong with this picture.

First, your substrate is HORRIBLE. Take it out and use paper towels, newspaper, slate tile, or reptile carpet (anything that cannot be eaten or ingested or build up a lot of harmful bacteria).

Second, any experienced breeder knows only to house ONE male and ONE female together for a maximum of two weeks when breeding. This means you should have four enclosures set up for them. Do you?

What kind of UVB light do you use? What calcium powder?

You have some really really BASIC husbandry flaws, so the fact that you are actually breeding them is a bit frightening.

Obviously by someone who doesn’t know much about a bearded dragons natural habitat or health risks.

I have seen rescue females come in who have lived together for years and all of a sudden one will take off the other’s leg. They may tolerate each other, but bearded dragons are very solitary creatures and certainly don’t LIKE each other.

So you’ll use it until one dies of impaction before you change it? You’re very lucky not to have had a problem yet, but why are you waiting for one to arise?! If just one of those chips is ingested, your dragon is VERY likely to die! Besides, it is absolutely nothing like what they live on in the wild (hard compacted clay) and is literally breeding bad bacteria and germs as we speak.

Also, your UVB tube should be above them, running the length of the cage, not stuck to one side just above the ground.

Well I wish you good luck in breeding your Dragons :) Just because someone like Dragongirl tells you you are doing everything wrong doesn’t mean that you have to listen to them and do it thy way THEY insist you do it. BD’s live in forest areas, glassland areas and sandy areas in Australia. I personally use sand, and wood chips or shavings are usually not recomended, but if you haven’t had any problems with the substrate well I don’t see a problem. I usually take 3 Dragons out of their cage and feed them in a comletely separate area, so they don’t ingest any of the substrate, and so that there and no crickets hiding anywhere in their cage wating to chew on them while they are sleeping. So you don’t HAVE to be and expert on BD’s so don’t let other people tell you things that make you feel stupid. I say keep doing what you’re doing, and good luck !

Hi I agree to,I had mine on sand for 3 years with no problems, although I have changed now just because I find tile easier to clean.I notice that anytime there is a picture posted the person is attacked for their set up instead of the question that they asked been answered. The debate on sand could go on forever so please give people a break and stop complaining about their set ups.

Exactly, like she may SEEM like she knows absolutely everything there is to know about every single animal on earth according to her profile, but you don’t have to go on telling people how horrible they are at taking care of their own pets. Its just kind of annoying you know? :P But yea I’m breeding my 3 Beardies for the first time, and I get all my info from a guy named Bama Beardies. He seems to know alot, and he gives me all the advice I need to know on how to carefor my Dragons eggs, and wat to feed them, and proper housing. He has 5 years experience and is gonna have his Beadies available online. I seen some of his babies and they are just soo cute :D So if anyone has any questions, I would deffinetly recomend asking Bama Beadies, and he explains things so nicely, and not demanding making you feel like a horrible pet owner like dragongirl.
