Haha ;) nope my clock is always stuck on that time. i think its other people who have something wrong with their clocks. haha but yea good job on the babies they are so beautiful. My mama beardie is already getting fat again and gettin ready for her second clutch. Nice and fat and only 5 days after laying! Shes getting plenty of calcium in her diet aswell. I bought my female and male beardie together from a family in town, and the lizards were their little girls pets, and didnt really pay attention to them anymore. they told me she had layed eggs before, and they didnt know wat do do with them so they just threw them in the garbage :( so my girl was gravid when i bought her and I’m not sure if they gave her enough calcium rich foods when she was laying, so hopefully these babies will be nice and healthy.
I’m also getting ready to breed my other girl Cheech, shes gonna be 2 in a couple months. Shes got really nice colors and no one can tell me what kind of dragon she is. Ive been told several times that shes a tiger flame, but I have no idea ! I’ll post a pic of her. Shes my precious !

For gravid females and for your other female.. pinky mice. I know some people still say they are bad for dragons but I swear by them. High in calcium and added fat to help put weight back on. Even our males get 5-10 pinks a week each during breeding season. Ill feed the girls as many as they want twice a week up until they stop eating before they lay. I have had alot of our dragons spit out pinks that were dusted, so i dont dust them at all, but dust females greens 2-3 times a week with herptivite and feeders everyday with calcium. We follow this schedule from the time they warm up after brumation, until the females are 30 days post lay with no sign of eggs, then i back down to vitamins once a week calcium 3 times a week. -Jay

I have heard of it taking up to 85 days in some cases. Have the eggs visably swollen up?

Wow your male looks identical to my female. So I guess thats what kind she is then. Thats pretty neat, I was told those ones are more valuable and harder to find than regular BDs. I’m so happy to know what kind she is! She loves to smile too. I’m not sure if its normal for a beardie to do that, but when i run the side of her mouth on either side, she opens her mouth wide and sorta sticks her tongue out, its like shes happy ! And yea I feed my mama dragon plenty of food, I was also told by a reptile guy here in town that you can take those cuttle bones you give to birds for their beaks, and use a knife and dust the cuttle bone on her greens and her crickets. So I’ve been doing that, along with reptivite powder and drops for their water, but I only use the drops once in a while cus they always end up turning their water dish into a mug bog anyways from running around and trying to get attention to come of of their tanks :P But my mama BD seems very healthy and she eats like no other, and she loves to play with Cheech and her man BD.

Thats my girl smilin for the cam! She never even bites if I put my finger on her tongue !

Ive got so many pics i could never get them all up on here. shes cute though. Now that my dragons lights went out maybe i can get work done lol.. Having to figure out a way around my het hypo pastel male breaking his jaw going after a roach. yeah that kinda messed things up. cant let him go after a female the break is in the front he will just try to mate and make it worse. gunna have to isolate him in a blind cage so he cant see his girls. Started breeding low end normals when we started sold them to pet stores but this is our first year really working with only color dragons no normals no more bulk sales. Im really wanting to get some F1’s to cross simply to strengthen the gene pool.. Have snows, sandfire reds, citrus double het, het hypo and lemon breeders we are working with. This is Blaze my Sandfire X Sandfire male. 23" 610 grams

Wow hes so orange. I would love to have Dragons like that. Thats what I’m gonna be doing for now, is just breed my Dragons, try and sell the babies personally, but most of them I will probly sell to the petstores here. They already told me they would buy the babies if I wanted them to. How old do the babies have to be before you can sell them? Hopefully if I start looking around for nice colored Dragons, I can start breeding better colors and get into it a bit more. I really enjoy this hobby alot. I just hope I can find some good quality Dragons when I’m ready.

Oh and also I was just wondering how I am supposed to tell if my eggs are fertile or not?
I’ve candled a bunch of them, so I’m not sure what to look for.

Well when I candled them, I did see little a dark spot and weins in each one, even the ones that are dented in, and one turned sort of yellowish brown and very shriveled but it still looks like theres veins in it. But I guess I’m just gonna leave thme all in there until I see some mold. But yea thanx for the advice once again ! It helped alot.

haha I meant to say Veins, not weins in that last message. But I have a new question, How long can the eggs be out of the incubator for, or like how long can I keep my incubator open before the eggs will die? Cus I only have one incubator, and my girls first clutch filled 2 containers and so theres no room in my incubator for her second clutch, so I’m soaking some more vermiculite in a new container so I can put all of the eggs from her first clutch in one container, to make room for a new container to put her second clutch in.

Yellow goo looking with veins usually means it was fertile, but the embryo died. Out of the incubator they should be ok for 15 mins or so, just be careful and go as fast as you can safely. I have had good luck using 6.75"dia 3"deep deli cups. You can fit about 25 eggs crammed in each one, and 5 cups in the hovabator so about 125 eggs. if the egg containers have lids on them the incubator lid can be off for 10 mins, but watch out for the hovabator temp spiking up while it tries to get the temp back up. The eggs after they are laid can be fine for several hours before they go into an incubator as long as they arent dug up until your ready to get them in the container. I have to say i agree with your other post.. I still have adults on sand too. High quality washed playsand, but still sand. And i got some of them on tile. Personally i like both. One just works better then the other for certain dragons. How many eggs you up to now? -J

 First clutch of ’08 hatched

Aww well I’m kinda sad that some of the eggs were fertile but they died. But it is my first clutch I’ve ever incubated so I’ll probly make a few mistakes. But all of your help and info is helping me out so much, I don’t know wat I would do or if I would have even made it this far without your help. I still only have the 26 eggs for now, but Puff is starting to get really fat again and I can feel little marbles in her belly already. How much salad can you feed a Dragon each day? Is there a limit or can I feed them as much as they want to eat? Puff eats like she hasn’t eaten for months, she eats like over 40 crickets and like 3 salads each day. Everything is sprinkled with calcium and vitamins, so this next clutch should be really healthy. Thats probly another reason why some of the embryos died, cus the previous owners didn’t know wat to do while she was pregnant and they didnt give her much calcium at all, so her first clutch will probly be affected by that. most of the eggs are starting to swell and are getting quite round and plump, and some of them are even changing form a little bit! so I hope thats a sign that they are growing. Also, I was just wondering how old do the baby Dragons have to be before you start selling them? Thanx again Jay.

Probably had nothing to do with you hun, Some eggs just die. Its good shes eating alot and no she cant eat too much greens or really anything at this point lol. If shes full she just wont eat. If you try to hand feed a pink and she refuses shes full. Thats How I judge them. We do give huge salads to the groups of females and small ones to the males twice a day crickets when they get up, then a dish of supers or when i have them silkworms. all they can eat. I wait till at least 4 weeks but i prefer 6-8 weeks. Holdbacks ill hold till i decide otherwise just depends. No prob at all Crystal, -Jay
