 ANY Advice welcome!!

my last post " something strange is happening" describes how this started! missy has gone on to have clutches on 17 feb(11 eggs) 4 march (11 eggs) 22 march (14 eggs) 8 april (16 eggs) and she is ready to lay another lot!!! as i said in my last post she has been alone since the mating accident and i have been giving her loads of calcium reptivit crix wax and supers locusts and a couple of pinkies a week she is holding up suprisingly well this will be her 5th lot of eggs in just over 2 months!! how many more is it possible she will lay? will this be her last lot? what else can i do for her?
her first clutch is hatching now the first 1 arrived on the 20th with a huge thing on his stomach i presumed was his egg sack i left him in the incubator to hopefully absorb it but he died a few hours later, the next 9 are fine and running round a tub in the incubator as they only hatched last night/this morning, and theres 1 left to hatch, now i checked on the other eggs vermiculite for moisture and found her second clutch is sweating and dimpling!! i dont want them to hatch too soon and die is there anything i can do?? all advice welcome :)

It is hard to say how many clutches she will lay. This being the 5th, chances are it will be the last. It sounds like you are doing everything right for her with the exception of feeding pinkies. I personally don’t think this is wise due to the possibility of impaction. The old school of thought on this was to feed them but you can keep their weight up and get calcium to them without pinkies.
As far as keeping the eggs from hatching their isn’t much you can do they will hatch when they are ready to. What are your incubator temps? Congrats on the babies.

Mike

We disagree. We use pinks with all of our adults and have for the last 7 years. never once had any sort of impaction problem, nor have any of our dragons had the liver problems that certain people were demanding would happen. There is nothing wrong with feeding pinks to a gravid dragon, especially right after she has laid. -Jay

Using pinks is your choice. I just gave my opinion. I don’t see any need to do it as you can keep the weight on and provide the needed calcium without it.

Your entitled to your opinions. We don’t use them to keep weight on, we use them as treats for adult males, and all juvis and sub adults. Our breeding females the ones who get pinks before and after laying, but still receive calcium dusting daily, and vitamins twice a week. -J

thanks for your replies, the temp is set to 84 and have double checked with temp gun it seems a stable temp give or take 1, i do dust each feed with calcium, gutload the crix and give vits 3 times a week at the mo (normaly only once every 3/4days) i realise that there are mixed feelings pro/con pinkies but i feel she benefits from the extra protine and calcium especialy with how close her clutches have been :)

The temp is good all you can do is let the eggs hatch as they will. good luck.
