Pregnant female? Do you feel eggs in her belly? It would feel like she has a belly full of marbles. Has she been with a male? Do you have a laybox for her to dig in and lay her eggs? Do you have an incubator? -Jay

Pregnant female?
I already have an incubator, what kind of substance do I need to put into the laybox.
Yes she is with a male. I didn’t feel anything in her belly, but everytime I find her digging she lays eggs later, and I was hoping to find these eggs in time to incubate them.

Pregnant female? We pack damp not wet screened play sand, sometimes mixed with vermiculite. packing it down before you put her in there will help keep it from collapsing in on her. the shallow side is about 8-10 inches deep, sloping up to about 18" on the other side. We cover the laybox with a screen top, and put a 100W basking light on the shallow side. If she is digging now, you need to have the incubator ready and warm and checking to make sure the temp is stable at 82-84f. -Jay

Pregnant female? Hi, i use a large box filled with half play sand and half compost, dampened till it clumps together and about 8 inches deep but deeper the better. This method has worked for all of my beardies. And they normally lay within a couple of hours. hope this helps. If you think shes ready soon get your incubator turned on and make sure the temp stays steady, as i had 2 days messing with mine to get it set up properly, emma

Pregnant female? We use 72 quart plastic tubs for our lay boxes.
You need a container with a lid for in the incubator, and yes it needs to be damp before the eggs are put in it. It should be damp enough to hold together when squeezed, but if water wrings out when you squeeze its too wet. -Jay

Pregnant female? There are three possibility’s. Either the dragons just trying to get out of the cage, she has to lay eggs, or she has to lay infertile eggs. Since you can not feel them they are most likely infertile. Infertile eggs will not hatch but she will still need a dig box to lay them in and incubating them to see if they are fertile would be a good idea. I use large black rubbermaid bins. The black keeps her less stressed and more interested in digging. Like the others say, damp sand is a good idea. I would not recommend soaking the vermiculite before putting the eggs in it. It will be too moist and the eggs will grow mold. I put dry vermiculite or perlite in a small container and lightly spray it, after putting the eggs in i spray the inside part of the lid. I than spray the inside of the lid every week or whenever it seems too dry. Good Luck

Pregnant female?
She has laid fertile eggs before, and I had her out and she was digging at everything.
How old does a male beardie have to be to breed. I have another male I would like to breed and turn 2 year next month. is it safe to change her mates?

Pregnant female? That male could have bred a long time ago! One of my 5 month old bearded dragons head bobs at the girls and one of my 9 month olds is my best breeder.

Pregnant female? Id just like to add, with my females i notice them being gravid by their tummys swelling alot its like their tummys are holding alot of fluid, them while giving them a bath (as their more relaxed) i palpate the tummy gently and if she is i can feel small eggs, i give it a week then the eggs become obvious as they are like big bumps as i run my finger over her tummy, it is not hard to feel them at this stage. Then i introduce them to the lay box. I find if is she is ready and the conditions are right she will lay within a few hrs. sometimes a bit longer which means putting her back in the viv and trying again later in the day. Reduce any stress and she will be happy to lay. Once she lays, let her cover the eggs, so her job is done, like in thewild she will forget the eggs and will not have a disire to nurture them. HAve the vermiculate in the containers ready, i use sandwich tubs with lids (put holes in the lid) place the eggs gently in the vermiculate using your thumg to create a hole, and put them in the incubator.
As for the female she will look tiny and very thin. Bath her so she gets a good drink and a good wash, then put her back in the viv, when she warms up give her as many bugs as she will eat. Pinkies are debatable, i normally give mine 1 after laying but that is up for question, anyone?
This is what i do, i have another beardy about to lay her second lot of eggs, i have 12 more eggs that are hatching now and a furthur 30 cooking at the mo to hatch in the next few wks. hope it helps emma
