 Babies still not eating

Hi my babies are 8 days old and they still won,t eat crickets,they are eating greens.I have tried dropping the crickets in on them from above but they are not interested.They are very active and they are drinking water.Has anybody got any ideas,the crickets are small enough.Barbara

How many crix are you putting in at a time? I have found that if you put to many at first they seem overwhelmed qand will actually try to escape from them.

OK so overwhelming isn’t the problem. Try putting about 10 in at a time and watching them. It is funny how they are. Once one starts to eat the others will watch and begin eating too. All you can do is just keep offering two to three times a day and take the crix back out after about 15 minutes if they don’t eat.

not sure if this will work for you but it could be worth a try.
we put a chinese takeaway tub, one of the clear plastic ones, in the viv with some crickets in. as the dragons get hungry they try to eat the crickets through the tub. this is when we let some out and they chase them like mad.
our 1st clutch were terified of the crickets but the ones hatched monday/tuesday are munching goodstyle.

Babs try smaller crickets. Its worked for us with some of the finicky eaters. Let me know if they atill aint eating. -Jay

Hi Jay ,I had no luck getting smaller cricket so I am heading up to Dublin tomorrow to try get them up there.They are eating plenty of greens and are very active.my kids have them spoiled and every time they see my daughter they run to her,I will have some very sad children when the time comes to sell them.I know we are told not to handle them when they are very young ,but I can,t see what harm it can do.Barbara

Main harm is they will leap and hurt themselves. Ive been holding my holdbacks since they hatched. Not getting bit anymore lol bluberry and the hypo trans come running to my hand when i reach in the cage :D -Jay

We are very careful and we make sure that when the kids hold them they are sitting on the floor with them.I hope I can get the smaller crickets tomorrow.They are very hard to get over here and I have tried to get them shipped from other countries but no luck.I will keep trying,take care Barbara
