i might as well get an incubator online. Ebay has them for 50 bucks or less, but it usually takes 3 weeks for anything to get here. but i can still get it for another clutch of eggs.

I had no incubator for the first 2 week so we put the eggs in the containers with the vermiculite with lids with some holes in ,then we put enough water in the bottom of a fish tank to cover the heater (heater that is used to heat a tropical fish tank)and we placed the egg containers on rocks so that they never touch the water and we also used a heat lamp for the temperature,so you have the humidity from the hot water in the tank and the heat from the lamp. But you have to keep an eye on your temperature. It worked for me while I waited for my incubator from e bay.Hope this helps, good luck .Barbara

ya there is a lid for the container. the eggs are siting in vermiculite and there is a small water dish in the container, and the thermomiter (in the picture). does the heater for a fish tank actually work? could you send me a pic of what your tank looks like plz

The eggs look dryed out. That’s why some of them are collapsing. Mist the top of the container and around the eggs (not directly on the egg) to add more humidity.

Contrary to what most people are told, misting the eggs directly gently does NO harm. Misting the eggs themselves has not shown in the now 1000’s of eggs we have hatched over the years to hurt them in any way. it may temporarily block the gas exchange through the shell, but the eggs surface doesn’t stay wet very long after a gentle misting. The eggs do absorb some of the water. We have used stronger closer sprays (not streams) to wash off loose vermiculite from the eggs, again with not a problem. We feel the concern with over doing the water on the eggs would be if the pearlite or vermiculite was over saturated and the eggs were sprayed heavily, it could drown the eggs. If 2 hours after misting the eggs, the surface is still wet and shiny, the eggs are too wet. Too wet, leave the egg container lid off until the vermiculite drys out some. -Jay
