 Incubating HELP

Okay everyone-
This is my first clutch so Im still trying to learn everything. My female layed 15 eggs today and I have added them to the Hovabator at 82.2 degrees and 70% humidity.
NOW....What do I do in the daily operations for the next 6-8 weeks?
Do I mist the eggs? the vermiculite? Turn the eggs? Anything else?!??!?!

Any help will do. Thanks!

Brice

 Incubating HELP

Hi,NEVER TURN THE EGGS,the eggs should be removed from the lay box once she has buried them, the same way up that she left them,I mark the top of my eggs with a marker to show which is the top, place them in containers with lids with a few holes in them and damp vermiculite.Mist the whole container including eggs once a week.Read through other posts down the line and you will learn load, especially Bama Beardies,he has thought me so much,You could also read Breeding Beardies 101.Hope this helps.Barbara

1 More question-

I was reading some posts about eggs collapsing.....within 4 hours of my female laying the eggs I found them, they all have the leathery texture and are very soft with small indentions or small collapsed spots/dents.....is this normal? I can see the pink embryo inside the eggs and i have handled the eggs with a spoon, to make sure i dont "dent" them

The vermiculite should be wet enough to stick together when squeeze but water should not come out of it.Just give the eggs a few light sprays once a week, don ,t over wet them. The eggs should dry within 2 hours,if it takes longer they are to wet.If your eggs are denting then its might be that the humidity is not right ,that is why we spray eggs and vermiculite and use containers with lid and holes in them.Good luck with them Barbara

You can mist more often at first until the eggs fill back out. as long as they are dry and no longer shiny after 2 hours they are fine. If your using a hovabator make sure you fill up every channel in the plastic liner with water. The instructions that come with them are for chicken eggs not reptiles. Also make sure you are using a digital thermometer, not the piece of junk that comes with it. -Jay

 Incubating HELP

Heres the pictures of my eggs as of today, May 12, 2008. There are some that are turning a yellowish tent on top, as you can see in the picture, are these molding? I can also see red resting on the bottom which appears to be the veins starting.....
The eggs are being incubated at 70-80% humidity and at 82.6 degrees F.

Would you remove any of these eggs?

Hi I would,nt dump any of your eggs yet until they completely collapsed and mold over,I only had ever two eggs that molded over and you will know because they smell bad.Keep cooking until this happens because you will be surprised how bad some of my eggs looked but still hatched,

Here is a picture of my egg and the baby that came from it.Barbara

wow, thanks!

I would have never thought that with the way that egg looked, such a pretty baby would have came out!
I can’t wait to see mine now.

I dont know if this is allowed, and if its not, please tell me, but what do you guys/gals do with your babies once they have hatched? How long do you keep them? Do you sell them to pet shops or privately? (Note: I dont want to buy one, just trying to see how people handle SO many clutches!)
