 Hosing two females together??

I’ve heard many different things about this, but was wanting to get everyone’s opinion here about keeping 2 adult females together!

I mean what if they seem to like each other and get along very well, even sleep on top each other?
What is the real harm of leaving them together when there doesn’t seem to be any stress?

Just wondering cause I was cleaning cages the other day and put 2 of my girls together for like 20 minutes and it was too cute watching them getting to know each other, there was no problem with them at all so I left her there all day just to see if they wanted to visit a while, they were sharing the basking area and eating together.. :D

 Hosing two females together??

I am no expert with beardies, I have waterdragons and am researching and saving up for my first beardie. That being said, I don’t believe it is a good idea unless you have a rather large enclosure with multiple basking spots, hides, etc. From what I have read here, even when two females seem to get along well, you never know when they might not. It doesn’t take long for one to get an injury or lose a toe or worse when tempers fly.

At best, they might seem to get along fine, but one is feeling intimidated and starts to stress. I would think that it would be fine to put them together temporarily, but in the long run they should have their own space. Then again, like I said, I am no expert.

 Hosing two females together??

As you have already heard, it is not recommended. That being said, if you do try it, you must be very careful. Everything can seem fine one minute and then the next minute they will be fighting. I have in the past tried keeping two females together and one quickly became more dominant. Surprisingly it was the smaller of the two that was the aggressor. I had to separate them for the safety of the larger female. I have heard horror stories of one female killing another. I could never be there to watch them the entire time they are awake, so I won’t take the chance again.

I always catch grief for this, but go ahead. If they’re getting along, do it. I currently have 4 females sharing an enclosure, granted it’s a big enclosure, and once they get their own pecking order set up, they’re fine.
Males on the other hand are a bit more dicey, don’t try that.
Later,

I have kept multiple females in a single enclosure several times in the past and they never fought. The main thing to watch out for is tail and toe nipping. A hungry bearded dragon will sometimes confuse another dragon’s toe with a cricket. If you decide to keep two females together it is very important that you keep them well fed. It helps to have a salad available for them to snack on all day.

I will have to agree that there definitely is a risk to housing 2 beardies together regardless of their sex....for different reasons of course...I have heard that people do it without any negative effects...yet...but who knows...some people have posted dominance issues, not necessarily outward aggression, (but that can happen too), but those of the best basking spot, one yielding to the other while feeding, and those we probably don’t know anything about because we don’t know their language...I took all 4 of my females out of their separate enclosures yesterday and let them roam the room as I cleaned out their tanks and they did fine...but living together...I wouldn’t especially as adults-after a year or so...when puberty hits, the witch in them may come out !!! Take care B

Thanks! Actually, I thought I had read somewhere that they lived in groups, one male and several females on packed sand or clay mostly.

 Hosing two females together??

I have kept two females together, but I have always fed them seperately. The salad was comunal. Oh yea, seperate them when they shedding. It’s a trying time for any reptile and it’s best to keep them seperate. In fact, I have an enclosure just for the shedding perioud. It has nothing more than a basking spot and lights and food and water dishes. The substrate is a soft carpet so there is not chanc of them acidentally hooking half shedded skin on anything. Just my two scents.
