3 Trouble Hatchlings

I have had 16 babies hatch just fine but for some reason 3 of them seem to get the dehydrated look (face and body sucken in and the under eye is sunken in and skinny stomach) when I put them into the tank, the others are very alert, eating, chubby and have fat stomachs. I have put the sick babies back into the incubator and mist them constantly and then they to seem to do better, but I am confused on what I should do next. I am worried because the others are eating and running around just fine in the tank but these three seem to be having problems, any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I kept them in the incubator for atleast 24 hours after hatching to cut down the stress and I keep them well hydrated with misting, the tank is cleaned in mid day and at the end of the day. I just need some help trying to save these 3 that are having problems.

Sounds like your doing all you can. I would keep them in the incubator & keep misting them until they perk up a little more. I wish I could give you more advise. What’s your humidity level in your incubator?

The humidity was 75 but I uped it to 79-83. I still try to feed them and give them greens but with no luck, I give them a daily warm soak in a very shallow tub by holding them in it so they don’t drown since they are so sluggish and mist them. I also try offering them food atleast three times during the day in a separate container then back to the incubator to rest. They run around like crazy in the incubator but still not comfortable with putting them in the tank since the last two times were not good experiences. I call the incubator the intensive care unit since that is what it has turned into.

I live in a vary dry climate & keep my incubator’s humidity level at 100% & haven’t had a problem with dehydration. However, Jewel brought up a good piont.... If they’re not feeding, she made a good suggestion about the baby food/formula. In my experience with sick beardies, thier have been times when I had to force feed a sick beardie & I would feed them babyfood with protien such as chicken & rice mixed with calcium & pedialyte. Drop a little on thier nose or on the side of thier mouth & they should lick it up. Good Luck.

try baby chicken food with water then put some calcium and vitamins in it then get some crickets and smash the hell out of them till they are all cut in half and dead put it in a small bowl and see if theyll eat it if they do youll be fine its very nutritious. try putting them under the light as much as you can and if they get dedydrated open their mouth and hand feed them water through a siringe. If nothing works take them to the vet which will cost you about $15 each for a checkup.
