 Housing???

i have a 1 1/2 year old male beardie n a another female under a year old...i let them be together alot in one big 4 1/2’ by 2 1/2’ by 2 1/2’ enclosure... my male is pretty lazy n my female is really energetic i mean like constantly moving n climbing n then sits under the basking lamp for awhile...she has always been like this tho n she is healthy...but my question is....my male head bobs to her no more then about once or twice a day n she does the wave thing but as soon as that done hes fine they get along perfect n they climb on top of eachother and all kinds of stuff n he never gets agressive...is there a chance that maybe i could house them together fine...i mean ino its wrong but i’ve had them in for about a week now n my male duzent even chase her...the owner that had him b4 housed him with 2 females n he got rejected alot i guess...do u think maybe he might just give up or hes slowly gettin the picture that my new beardies not ready for it?

It sounds like they get along.....However I wouldn’t put them together unless they were about the same size. Dominance can be a problem.... I would try it, keep a close eye on them & make sure he isn’t pulling rank by not letting her eat or getting to agressive were he might break off a limb. I’ve seen a male in with 3 females & he tore them all up....missing toes, feet & tail.

ya i didnt wanna take the chance so after i posted the message i got a 30 gall with weat bran n set up her own space because shes already had that problem at the pet store cuz they didnt no how agressive some males get n now shes missing half a tail, 4 toe nails n 2 half toes but none of that bothers her at all shes really cool

Ouch! poor thing. Yeah, those males can get pretty rough. When I saw my male mate with my female... I was kinda stund. He grabbed her by the lobes & was throwing her up against the glass. He has never drawn blood, though. But the other females I was telling you about...years of abuse & the lady finally gave them to a reptile resque. I went there to check it out & these poor girls were missing full on body parts. I’ve wondered why someone would leave them in the cage together & allow the male to tear them up like that.
