Breeding Question. Please help.
I have two Snadfire Yellow/Hypo x gold phase bearded dragons. A male and a female. They are both 8 months old. I think the female may have eggs, but i am not sure. I just noticed that she was alot fatter. Does anyone know how to tell? And if so, what should I do so the lizard can lay the eggs? should I put some damp soil on one end of the cage?

Breeding Question. Please help. How big is she? You may need to have a vet on hand she is far to young to lay eggs. Females should be at lest 18 months. First of all seperate them (so if she isn’t gravid then she won’t be either). Are they brother and sister? If so and she does lay fertile eggs, I suggest you freeze the eggs and toss them. Now to lay them you need a decent size tub (storage tubs work well) put soil without any additives in it and you can mix sand/vermiculite/perlite in it if you want. Get it wet and mix it up, it should be just damp enough to clump when you squeeze it so that it doesn’t fall in on her when she is digging. It should be mounded 10-12" and put a low wattage bulb over it to keep it warm. She will dig and eat less if she is going to lay. Also if she has fertile eggs you should be able to feel them at some point (aroundn 2 weeks usually) and they are easier to feel in the bath if she’s not bloated out with air to float.

Breeding Question. Please help. She is about 6 inches long. She still eats around the same amount she used to. Maybe she is just getting bigger. Thanks for the info.

Breeding Question. Please help. Whoa, 8 months old and only 6 inches???? I’d be looking at parasites real hard not gravid. Even if that’s only snout to vent length that’s still really small. Have you had a fecal run on her? Babies at 6 weeks old are usually larger than that.Sean
